Inexpensive, not cheap pedals?

Glorious!

I don’t usually like Fuzz by itself but more often play it into some modulation effect like chorus or phaser. It just sounds 10x better that way IMO.

You ever hear the Bass War pedal by DBA? Brutal!

nope not yet!

I mainly use my Zoom B1four as it is easy and sounds good, having said that I have got some of the small Aliexpress ones.
Mooer, Irin etc.
I have an excellent tuner pedal, compressor, Blues, Overdrive, phaser and pitch shift-I might add pics tonite if you like.
They all sound good and work as described, I just tend to use the Zoom more as it is a single unit.
Also I am going pretty much straight into the amp lately without anything in the middle.

The Berhringer SuperFuzz is basically 1-1 the same as Boss Metalzone if you want that sort of thing, according to Josh Scott, who would know. The Berhringer is about $20 in Bezosland right now.

Yeah most of the Behrenger clone pedals are spot on. Josh’s video on that was awesome.

That doesn’t seem right, there’s no mids knob, much less a sweepable mid on the behringer. I would have a clone of a boss take on a big muff or fuzz face as my top two guesses by a mile.

Maybe the distortion circuit is the same as a metal zone but it doesn’t have the same EQ power?

SuperFuzz sounds more like a Fuzz Face or Big Muff, yeah. Or even more likely, a Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz. Need to rewatch the JHS vid.

So if I’m playing around with the reverb / fuzz sound, which would go first in the chain? The way I’m set up now, the RV-3 is my first pedal (comp comes after). I’d think to avoid the fuzz sounding muddy that it should come before the Reverb.

Reverb last. Fuzz/distortion into modulation is a good rule of thumb. But try both so you see why

Curse this thread! Or maybe the A/B thread!
I just got this on Amazon

You’re right. (And Howard is right.) It wasn’t the Metal Zone Boss, it’s the Hyper Fuzz that the Berhinger that I have cloned. I spaced that for some reason.

It’s got a treble and bass, but no mid, as you say. Three modes, a Boost, and Quite A Lot of Fuzz and A Shocking Amount of Fuzz.

I can talk more confidently about reverbs than fuzz/distortion etc.

Oh there’s a behringer clone of the metal zone still, the UM300.

The boss hyper fuzz is a based on the univox super fuzz, so I was quite wrong about a big muff or fuzz face

I almost got bit by gas on the super fuzz. I actually bought one on Amazon and then cancelled. I think I’m in my buy once cry once era of bass stuff, and I want to try the earthquaker fuzz pedals, plus I have a helix Lt on my wish list.

At least if I don’t like those they’re worth selling.

So after a lot of research I decided to go with: Amazon.ca

It’s a RAT pedal clone. I can more or less get fuzz, dist or OD from it.

Heard some samples and at this price, thought it’d be a great start on my pedal journey.

For inexpensive but not cheaply built look into the JHS Series 3 Pedals. $99 each.

Inexpensive for Josh but still triple the cost of Behringer.

I’m a huge Josh Scott fan though. Great stuff.

True and he’ll be the very first to admit some of the Behringer pedals are fine clones of other pedals. Mostly BOSS and EHX. Build quality is more questionable and with it longevity.

If used only at home they may last. If for live performing or in a studio where use is much higher I’d be more doubtful. Music Tribe is horrible as far as service goes. As a result I consider many of Uli Behringers products essentially disposable.

I have a Turbosound IP300 that shit the bed less than 2 months after it’s warranty was up. Sweetwater said they’d take a look at it but couldn’t assure repair. But if they could it might take awhile and costs with shipping would’ve approach $300. I paid just over $400 for it. A local tech is seeing if he can repair it but no promises.

I still need an octave pedal (would make Bela Lugosi’s Dead so. much. easier) and that JHS octave / verb looks pretty cool (and on sale for $75 so gets it close to only double a Behringer). Totally different kind of reverb than the Boss pedal I’ve already got which is bonus.
