Glad you are here @waydbro
Welcome @waydbro
Welcome @waydbro !
Hello! Realized I’ve posted a few things without properly introducing myself. So let me introduce myself.
My name is Roy and I’m younger than my name suggests! I live around Boston and picked up the bass originally in high school for about 6 months. I got it from a buddy’s dad; I think it was a Spector? I then went away for the summer and lent it to a friend of a friend since it would just be collecting dust in my parents’ basement. He ended up selling it (without asking me) and as you can tell by me writing this, I’m not bitter at all about it.
Fast forward to 2020, I picked up guitar for a few months at the suggestion of a friend and had fun with it but something was just missing. So a month ago I decided to rekindle the bass spirit within and have been chugging along with Beginner to Badass ever since.
I can tell I’m gonna learn a lot from folks here. Thanks for having me aboard
P.S. Here’s a picture of my cat, Hobbes, showing me how to use the amp. (I know it’s a guitar amp. Forgive my sin! I play mostly with headphones since I live in an apartment building). In the background you can see my Squier Precision PJ, nothing fancy but I like it!
Welcome!
Welcome Roy, that’s a well groomed kitty!
Thankfully he does it all himself!
Welcome @RoyB
Glad you are here @RoyB
Enjoy the course and the forum.

Belated welcome @RoyB
One of my favorite comics of all time. Welcome, and good luck!
Welcome aboard @restless_rocker @waydbro and @RoyB
So lurked a while, joined the forum in January and finally stopped in for this. I have been watching the YT channel (Bb and Josh) as well as any other bass channel I could find and just decided that I want to laugh some while learning (had already decided that I wanted more structure than I was giving myself) so bought B2B today. Since Josh appears to fit the cool nerd vibe that I apparently give off and I have enjoyed the free stuff, I figured it’s worth it for the entertainment even if i don’t learn a thing! (I totally will though.)
Grew up singing and playing piano, learned a dozen or so guitar chords in high school but was convinced by a friend (a great drummer) that i would like the bass. I am rather large so that’s part of it i guess lol. Learned the money notes 15 years ago then life pushed it aside. Now my business is running, the kids are in college (2 boys) or high school (daughter) and I see a need for bass players in local churches.
So here we go!
Oh- couple zoom pedals for practice (b14) and live (ms60b) and two guitars right now.
Sterling Sub series stingray 4hh- BEAD with LaBella DTF (really helps that B string.) Green/ maple.
G&L Tribute LB-100. DTF on it also cuz- p bass. Olympic White with the Brazilian Cherry fretboard (i think) and those snazzy pearloid inlays.
Welcome aboard, @bignc . . .
Glad to have you with us, and hope you enjoy your time here.
Wish you good luck with the course, too!
Cheers
Joe
Great choice on the BEAD with LaBella Deep Talking Bass flats!!! You might hear some griping from the StingRay adoration club about the flats though
Welcome to the forum, you will fit right in! Good luck with the B2B course as well.
Thanks! They already hate the HH since it’s not REALLY a ray. But what even IS a ray anymore lol!? Read that the “special” is basically the standard “sting ray” now. And if you don’t still get that Ray growl coming through the flats, you need to EQ again lol.
