Thanks Christopher!
Interesting! I have an upright bass background and always felt the technique was pretty similar - anything in particular that you’re unlearning?

Wow Bottomfeeder, that wifi idea sounds amazing. I’m near Worcester so if you ever need a beta tester let me know, I’d love to help. Llyn Peninsula, absolutely majestic place and one of my favourite break destinations, Lucky you!
Hi muff and thanks for your encouragement! Am heading down the M5 soon so may be passing by. Perhaps we coulld meet? Don’t know exact dates yet but would be usefull to know how far off the M5 you are?
That would be cool. My Postcode is WR7 4NT. Maybe 10 mins off M5 J6. Give me plenty of notice as when I’m not playing, recording or gigging I’m an overwhelmed grandad…
I reckon you’ve probably got the coolest job! Next to mine… I’m a bass player.
Hmm. Not sure about that. I’m a bit low on the public adulation! Great to meet. Looks like late afternoon 12/13 July. Any good?
Yes mate that should be o.k. That was a wrong message meant for a guy on the forum called asantora who flies a Gulfstream Jet for a Vegas casino! My email is muffevans@hotmail.com . Give me a nod when you know you’re coming down this way.
Well, that IS cool. My mail is bottomfeeder@pedalinabass.org.
Will keep in touch. Do you have any published music/sessions/YouTube stuff I could check out?
Josh has supplied me with some short unadulterated mp3 files which I will be using for test purposes. Feel free to contribute same if you’re so inclined.
Thats all my stuff I do on my own. The band are recording all current material soon. There are some rehearsals up on YT here.
Nice @muff!
Hi bass buzzers
My name is Don I am a retired Police Chief, 63 years old. I have always been able to “hear the bass line” in music. That said I don’t listen to a lot of music. I actually got started playing bass recently because my church has an awesome worship band and I said something to someone about playing bass. A few days later a friend gave me a bass guitar and amp (a very low end one, but it got me started) I am now on Module 5 and trying to keep it together. And I am already looking to upgrade to a better bass guitar. I love the lessons. They are set up to be easy to understand for an old guy like me to start, progress and get better. Some of it is HARD, but I am trying.
I have been reading a lot of the posts and I too have some hearing loss (just ask my wife) but I can always hear or sometimes feel the bass line. I am going to try to expand my horizons musically and see where I end up.
Thanks Josh and crew for putting this together.
Don
Welcome aboard Chief! Keep at it and you’ll be gigging in no time!
Looks like the Andy Warhol Velvet Underground Banana
It is indeed! Still leaves the question of “why Josh, why?” though
Hi, I’m Jeff, I fit in with the older generation in this thread. Just turned 54. Played the bass from grade school thru high school then got into other stuff. Always planned too play again but you know how that goes. Have a medical issue that won’t let me do my job while going thru treatment so I have some free time. Gonna start playing again, anyways I don’t have a lot of money to spend right now so I would like some input on good but inexpensive starter gear, guitar, amp, tuner. Just looking to have some fun, my daughter plays the guitar so maybe play some with her. Make the most of my down time.
Jeff! Welcome, and good to meet you. Josh and the Bass Buzz team have done the most thorough and excellent job in vetting beginning basses and amps in all the galaxy.
Check out the basses here:
And the amps here:
And then, go to a store, and overspend to buy the prettiest one you see. That’s always been very satisfying for me.
Dilemma solved, about two hours ago the doorbell rings, dogs bark, and I see the ups guy walking away. Wife gets a lot of packages so I didn’t give it much thought. Open the door and see a box that says Fender on it, peed a little, another box that looked big enough to be a guitar. Like a moron I just stood there staring then I giggled like a little girl and brought them inside. Thought this was the work of my wife and or daughter. I was wrong, it was my brother, didn’t see that coming, although they were in on it. I got a Fender Rumble 25 and a Dean bass, the Edge 1 I think. The transparent amber color. When I figure out how to post pictures I will. For now I need to tune it.
Wow that’s very nice of your brother! Congrats. Maybe I shouldn’t have told my folks I liked being an only child so much!
LOL. That’s awesome. I would giggle for so long if someone surprised me with a new bass.
Congrats on your new gear and welcome to the forum Jeff!
