Thanks Joe!
I’m sensing that I’m starting to get into the progressively more difficult stuff and the pace will slow. I haven’t been trying to hurry through, it’s just that I’m having a good time and will sometimes end up spending 30-40 minutes a day with it.
As long as you’re having fun with it, @PinkFloyd . . . ![]()
That’s what matters the most . . . ![]()
Cheers
Joe
Glad you are here @PinkFloyd
Btw, we know Riverside, they are brought up here quite a bit!
I am definitely in good company then.
When I mention Riverside to friends, it’s rare that they’ve heard of them. When they ask who the group is, my standard reply is “the best band you’ve probably never heard of”.
I’ve gotten a few of them hooked over the years though.
Welcome aboard @PinkFloyd ,
Enjoy the ride,
Riverside are a great band, and your right Mariusz is a great bass player and vocalist.
My favorite song of theirs is “The curtain falls”.
And i think Piotr Grudzinski was a great lead guitarist as well, sadly missed.
Cheers Brian
Welcome @PinkFloyd
Billy Jean is certainly something that stopped me in my tracks but something I do occasionally play as a warm up now even though I hate the tune with a passion
Welcome @PinkFloyd, looks you are on the road to bass Badass. Enjoy the rest of the course and stick to Billie Jean!
Wow! I haven’t looked this thread in a while. Welcome new badass’s!
Welcome @PinkFloyd . I love Riverside. Great chordal bass playing on Wasteland.
Welcome @PinkFloyd
Have fun here @PinkFloyd Glad to have you with us!
Welcome to the community @PinkFloyd !
Welcome @tom_stamm and Floyd @PinkFloyd
Hiya, PinkFloyd! I’ve only been here a few days myself, I’m on the “Smooth Groove” section of the lessons. One of my goals is to jam with my Hubs, he’s a drummer.
Oh, the Fender I have is a Squire *mini *
Here ya go @PinkFloyd ,
Just to get you into the groove,
Cheers Brian
Gets me into groove too. Great playing @TNKA36 and the sounds fits the song perfectly
Thanks Brian. Nice cover of one of my faves from Dark Side (the other is “Us and Them”).
I look forward to being able to play that.
I grew up in San Jose, after HS I joined the Army and was light infantry at ft. Drum NY, got out with back and leg injuries, became deputy in souther Nevada, where I was SWAT. Loved my work with a passion, cancer and the effects of it got me retired and my wife wanted to move to TN where I currently live. I’m healed from that but deal with severe PTDS from LEO stuff…
when I was a small child I wanted to play guitar my uncle got me one but dad said in great detail the string would break and cut my arm in half! So that didn’t last long.
While in the army I met a guy with a guitar and learned a few chords, got a electric and amp but never knew how to put everything together. Fast forward many years later I purchased a bass for my son who wanted to play in school he didn’t like it much and the equipment was put up.
years later I visited a church day one, they asked if I knew how to play bass, I said no but I have one… they asked me to go to practice the following Wednesday and I did and they wanted me to play Sunday I said no I never played in front of anyone and I wasn’t gonna mess up in front of a crowd.
That was like 8 years ago, I found Josh’s videos back then learned everything I could from them , got RockSmith and kept playing in church for about a year, then ended up playin at a bigger church a few times a week. I stopped going and playing and forgot everything, I have little to know short term memory due to medical stuff.
I wanted to get back into playing think it would give me purpose and help mentally heal.
I looked up Josh’s YouTube videos again only this time he has a well formatted school! I was happy to support him and his endeavors! Starting from beginning but it’s coming back I never was any good anyhow so I hope to have a good foundation through these courses to continue to build on.
