Welcome @Twiggy ! Love seeing new people pick up a bass. If you follow the program, neither of those songs will present any major issues. As for your bass? A squire bass is fine. The cost isn’t so important as decent quality and time with it in your hands.
Saw you joined 8 hours ago, that’s good. The money investment here is really minimal, but it pays off huge.

Many of us started on (and keep and love) our Squiers and they make excellent upgrade platforms.
My first Squier J bass is fully modded and I still love it.

Hi All! New guy here. My name is Jason, I like long walks on the beach, holding hands and cuddl… wait woops, wrong site… ha! Anyway… Im 47, retired Army guy, live in the Seattle area of the evergreen state of liquid sunshine. I’ve tried playing bass before, unsuccessfully, in Highschool, many… many years ago. I have no natural musical instrument talent other than a little air guitar, maybe some steering wheel drums… im pretty alright at playing the radio 
but I love how music makes me feel, espescially the bass, that groove, that rhythm, thump, pop, ya know? and have always wanted to be able to play. I found B2B a couple… maybe 3 weeks ago after watching Josh’s youtube videos and i was sold! Im very happy I signed up! …best decision i’ve made in a Long time! I never pictured myself learning what an F clef is or recognizing what those funky little music notes symbolize, let alone being able to play anything even remotely recognizable. I’m all in and happy to be here! J.
