Hi @dee-noz, welcome. 57, first time i played a bass was February 3rd.
Welcome @461. Nobody’s old here, just extra life experienced.
Thanks Jazmo. I’m looking forward to all the lessons . Also great to keep in touch with fellow bassists.
Welcome to the forum @biohazz65! Glad you’re enjoying the course.
Great to be in Good Company.
Working on some Pat Travers “Born Under a Bad Sign” I have the basics but really having a time with extras, the riffs the runs.
I’m 35, currently living in Connecticut, but I’ve lived all over the US. I’ve been learning the bass over the last few years as a total beginner. I found myself playing for a few months, then not picking it back up for 6 months at a time. I would start and stop with Josh’s course when I was playing, but not making major strides since I spent so much time relearning and knocking rust off.
I recently found a 2014 MIM Fender Jazz in my local music shop. It sung so pretty, it forced me to bring it home. Now it won’t let me put it down. It is meant to be making music all the time, and demands I practice to let it sing closer to it’s own full potential.
For having taken me a few years to make it through the first half of B2B, I have flown through from where I had left off. I’m in module 12 right now… learning My Sharona this afternoon. I’m starting to get it at the fast speed, but my left hand is killing me! The speed of the song has been making me death grip the neck. Something to work on.
I love getting to know all the theory as we go, and have been surprised how much of it I easily understand (of the basics at least).
I’m really looking forward to module 14. The reason I wanted to learn bass in the first place is to be able to just groove along over a drum track and play something fun and funky. I finally feel like I’m making progress towards that goal!
I’m greatful to have this community online here as a resource for help when I need it! Thanksin advance!
Welcome, @BassFaceDisgrace . . . .
Module 14 is great. The last few modules were the best ones for me!
Welcome @BassFaceDisgrace!
Welcome @BassFaceDisgrace! Glad you’re making your way through the end of the course!
Loving the lessons! I’ve realized that for decades I suffered from a very bad introduction to acoustic 6 string (made to play “Lay Down Your Head Tom Dooley” until I wished for death myself) but with you as my instructor I am making music!! Thank you
Hi my name is Eric and I’ve always wanted to play guitar and finally last year I started taking guitar lessons. I started messing with my sons bass about a week ago with his Rocksmith game and found out I liked it, the bass, not the game. So I purchased a bass and started looking for online lessons and stumbled on bass buzz. I’m looking forward to learning and seeing how far I can take this at 58 years old. Thanks Josh for putting this all together for us not so musically gifted.
Welcome @Eric1!
Thank you everyone for the nice welcome messages.
Welcome @Eric1! Glad you got your own bass so you and your son don’t have to fight over one.
Gorgeous!
Wishing you much happy playing!
Thanks, hoping to get the beginner to badass course here soon and really get started on my journey in to the world of bass. I may just start a metal ska punk band and play nursing homes once I become better.
Nice! Love the color.
