I’ve skipped that billie jean lesson after a few failed attempts…:joy::joy::joy:. I’d raise that flag sometime in the near future.

Good call. The problem with that lesson is not that it’s so hard, it’s just that being so early in the course, a lot of us didn’t have the fretting dexterity needed yet. And so it’s a challenging finger-twister at that point, and has become a running joke here.

You’ll be able to nail it after finishing the course

Greetings All!!! I’ve been lurking around here for a little over a month and finally decided to take the plunge into B2B course.

I discovered this course & forum just from searching for YouTube looking for a good way to to teach myself bass. I’m 48 years old and played a little back in middle/high school. It was never anything serious, more of something to do to mess around with my friends on weekends. But I always liked the bass and have always wanted to actually take the time to learn what I was doing.

I just received my new Ibanez SR370E and Fender Rumble LT25 amp last week and have been really enjoying having a bass again already. Ya, I know, the amp is a little on the small side but my wife is a nurse, and goes to bed super early. So a lot of my playing time is spent with headphones on. But the 50 presets that come on it are not bad at all, and you can customize them to your liking. It will certainly keep me from getting bored anytime soon, and from what I’ve seen so far it is totally capable of annoying the neighbors :smiling_imp:

I also have to say that I’m very impressed by this forum alone. You’ve got a very good group here and are very helpful and supportive to everyone. I’m really looking forward to diving into the course this evening.

Thanx
Chris

Hey @csmundell, welcome! I’m a new face in town too, so unfortunately can’t show you around  It’s been great so far though.

Welcome to the party

@Trev1 The Billie Jean lesson is like that boy/girl you swooned over in high school, but you were too inexperienced to win him/her over. Then, you meet that man/woman later in life after you’ve matured and have years of experience, and he/she just melts at your feet like putty.

“Billie Jean is not my girl”
That line is in there for a reason.

Welcome @VikingT, glad you’re enjoying the course so far!

Welcome @Rebecca.Jean! Your technique will be killing by the end of the course.

Welcome @csmundell, congrats on your new gear! I like those Ibanez SR’s a lot.

Welcome @csmundell. I am jealous of your Ibanez. I just purchased a used SR300 from GC, for $219 before tax and shipping.
I would have jumped all over your Bstock item if it were not for two things.
1, you got it.
And more importantly,
2, it’s not ORANGE.
That was one of 3 reasons I got it.
1, I love the Ibanez neck feel, moving up from. GSR200
2, the GC return policy, 180 days, and can return locally
And 3, most important, it’s ORANGE.

Thanks Josh! I’m about 90% sure I’ll be taking the plunge on to B2B course in the near future. I love the stuff you have up on YouTube and been learning a TON from it! Now if only my amp would get here… Playing through the 9v powered Lyon I got for free just isn’t cutting it. I gave a lot of consideration to the Fender Rumble 40, but ultimately decided on this bad boy…

Nice amp. I am in the market, and watched a YT video review, looks like a great amp.
Plus, it’s Orange, and the color alone gives it bonus points in my book

:100:! Black is such a serious color. Orange is so much more fun. And I’ve had an Orange guitar amp that I really like (hence I’m getting a bass amp from them too), but since I’ve been getting into bass so much, now my partner is feeling the bug too and wants to get back into playing guitar, so that’ll probably hers and we’ll have matching amps soon. It’ll be so cute. haha  :sunglasses: :orange_heart:

There are so many good deals used right now on Offer Up and Let Go that I may end up going used for now.
Basically I can get more amp and speakers then I will ever need for about $200.
Otherwise, I will spend about $400 for a new combo with future expansion capabilities. Still deciding

Moin from Hamburg!
After buying an e-violin for my wife I thought, it’d be a good idea to start playing some music as well again. nearly two decades ago I started self-teaching first acoustic guitar and afterwards e-guitar but dropped it after a while.
As time has passed I enjoyed hearing bass-heavy music more and more and by self-assessment I think I am pretty decent in regards to keeping pace, Bass was a natural choice for me to rejoin!
After watching a lot of first Davie504s videos for the memes and now Joshs videos for education, I just bought myself a Yamaha TRBX 304 (as recommended (I will call him Greg  )) with a Fender Rumble 25 and this time self-teaching was no option for me, so here I am, printing the booklet and looking further to my first module!

I am Alex, 30, live in Hamburg with my wife and 2 cats, working as an IT Consultant and just recently started podcasting because why not, right?

I am looking forward to hang out with you guys and gals

Oof Scottland… wanted to visit this country so badly again this year after some awesome vacations in Buckie in 2018, but had to cancel due to Covid-19 :frowning: :sob:

Alex that’s a bummer, still when this is over if your in the West Coast of Scotland perhaps you could visit. I’m in Ayrshire opposite Arran. I have a bass, amp and stool that is sitting in Germany at the moment. Germany has some of the best Music stores in Europe and great prices on quality equipment, a well worth waiting
