Welcome along @FreebooterFox !
Welcome to all the new people since my last visit here!
Love the stories about cats attacking violins and watching basses.
Or Chris getting into the program - sounds like Bassbuzz is audio-wellness-therapy.
Welcome. @ceburton
Welcome @FreebooterFox , what a journey to get here, but you landed home nice basses you got there, and even better…. Cats
gotta love em!
Hi all,
I bought a bass 7 years ago second hand and with a little help from a bass player friend. It is a Sire Marcus Miller swamp ash. Very beatiful. I took it home, admired it, stroked it lightly and was overall very pleased. Only problem was, I was expecting my first child and the options for holding a bass in any reasonable fashion was already limited at the time of purchase. Also, some kind of animal instinct during pregnancy made me run away from loud noises, especially bass notes. Conditions turned out to be suboptimal for learning to play electric bass from scratch and also strangely enough were not improved after my sweet child was born.
I had already been playing acoustic and electric guitar with my little band for some time (for the 10 years or so we have played together we have done exactly one live apperance) and continued doing so sending my beautiful bass longing looks from time to time.
5 years after buying the beautiful bass, and as my second child turned 2, I finally dared start to play it a little trying to understand what happened when I turned and switched the numerous knobs and switches or at least make it output sound (apparantly my bass had something called a preamp, that runs on batteries, that discharges if a cable is left plugged in and … you get the idea = steep learning curve). Very tentatively, holding on firmly to the few notes I had figured out and relying heavely on loose strings I was on my way. But I realized I needed help and found this BassBuzz guy on youtube that helped me find a place to anchor my wandering thumb which immediately made me feel more confident.
And then, of course, I watched ALL the BassBuzz videos and was hooked. I started playing bass on a few of the bands songs, only hitting the root notes, but it felt NICE.
Now fast forward to today, 7 years post bass purchase and the first day with access to the Beginner to Badass course as I was recently gifted it by my mother in law for my 43rd birthday and I couldn’t be more ready to get going.
Thanks Josh for all you have already taught me about playing bass guitar and for all the sweet bass playlists that inhabit my Spotify account.
Looking forward to starting my travel from Beginner to Badass.
And to be part of this lovely forum crowd.
Cheers,
Marika from Stockholm

Hi Everyone,
I’m Nevan, I’m 40, and I new to Bass. In fact, almost new to playing instrument since I didn’t touched any since I was 13 or 14 and I was anyway a full beginner.
I always wanted to play bass and I postponed it for years, until a friend of mine (who plays bass, guitar and some other instruments) encouraged me to definetely try it and start … by buying me a starting kit !
I consider myself a total noob since I didn’t practiced any instrument for 25 years, and never a guitar or bass, then I found the B2B course.
I decided to take it after looking at some youtube videos on Josh’s channel.
Since I’m french, I was a bit worried that it will be more difficult to understand, even if my english level is pretty good, but i’m relieved it’s easy to undestand. I’m so glad I decided to take it.
I just finished M2 L2 right now and l feel confident.
I tried a bit of Rocksmith before that, but it’s not “learning friendly” enough. So i’ll get back to it later.
Welcome to the family. I am a newb as well. I’ll be posting myself shortly.
Hello, I’m 52 and been plucking for about two years now. I finally decided to get a bass after years of interest. I got my 1st bass and a month later a puppy. It has been challenging carving out time with a puppy in my face. Now that she’s gotten use to the bass I can spend longer practicing. I am an old head and love the old funk, groove, but love all genres of music. I look forward to learning with everyone.
New person here. Short story long, was googling for the fountain of middle age and came across Bassbuzz. Playing bass is something i always wanted to learn, so now that i have free time im looking forward to this new journey and from what i have read in the reviews B2B is the correct path to use. Still looking for the fountain of middle age if anyone knows the location.
