Congrats to Josh!

My name is Jenny and I just completed Module 1, pretty good way to start the year I think. I’m a 40-something working mom and I’m so excited for the time in my day where I get to play, limited though it is.

I’m not exactly a total beginner to music or to bass, I played double bass in orchestra in middle and high school, and I noodled around on bass guitar a little back then but there was absolutely no guidance and the course is already helping me break the habits that an upright bass player would have that wouldn’t translate well to bass guitar (plucking the strings and left hand thumb position mainly, although the good news is my pinky has apparently retained its strength).

I love everything from metal to funk but New Wave is probably my favorite genre.

Hi all!

My name is Maayan. I’ve actually started the B2B course a couple of years ago but had to take some breaks due to health issues. Lately I’ve been back and I’m massively enjoying myself.

I used to play guitar, and at a young age violin, but with the bass I feel a connection like I’ve never felt before, I absolutely love it. There’s something about being part of the rythm section and also a melodic instrument at the same time that just hits right.

Other than bass, I am also a student of queer history (hopefully I will submit my thesis this year!), I live in the UK, I work as a research assistant and tutor, and I am entirely obsessed with dogs and my dog in particular.

Hi Everyone , Lifetime fan of all bass but in particular a massive Level 42 fan. Bought my first bass in October 2025 (Ibanez SR500E) at the age of 57 with the mindset, HOW HARD CAN IT BE! and therefore here I am learning the basics and having a great time!

Hello Everyone,

Names Rachel, but online I use the name Libitina (Libi).

I think like most people on here, it goes without saying, we have a love of music. ! Surprise surprise, I’m no different. I’m 62 later this year and have played many instruments over my life and tried many others lol.

To date lol, hold your horse.

Bugle - about 7 years

Bell Lyre (vertical for marching) - attempted, big and akward

Piano - about 7 years also.

Flute about a year.

Violin x2 (acoustic and Electric) also about a year, took ABRSM grade 1 (Pass) - Teacher moved so quit, bummer said dougal.

Guitar - About 3 years now but been extremely spotty for last year and that must change.

Mandolin - not yet started.

Bass - Due to start mid Feb when it arrives.

Hopefully this year I’ will get the change to clear some space and make a propper music room, we’ll see.

As for the guitars I have a few.

1st, was the Epiphone jumbo acoustic which I took to London for a setup. Plays nice but a little big for me as I’m only 5’4”

2nd, is an epiphone es 335 , used that so much it left a lasting impression, you’ll see, it needs liitle TLC now.

3rd, Fender strat in cherry red, say no more lol, well, you have to really dont you ROFL.

4th, Gift from partner, Faith acoustic Venus - purchased below RRP as was shop used.

4th, Gibson Les Paul standard. Absolutly love the playability above all the guitars but heck its to heavy to use and sadly has to go.

5th, lol, My absolute pride(sin) is my Heritage Custom 535 in a Dark Cherry Burst. You’ll see this in vids when I post links to covers with the Bass added

I have my gear for recording which includes the Focusrite 8i6, a couple pencil mics, omni mic, Bugerra Infinium Amp 5w , 1x12” celetion creamback, 6” monitors.

Oh me lol, I live in the UK about 30m west of London give or take.

Semi-retired and even with all that time on my hands I still get bored and cannot be bother to pick and play an instrument a lot of the time(for now) lol.

I have done some recording but they’re not for here, I’ll post my bass playing in a year or so.

Toodles for now.

Welcome, @Libitina !

You might find that Les Paul doesn’t seem as heavy after you get used to your new bass.
