IS the Ibanez SR300E Active or Passive at all times?

I have that bass and I am confused about one aspect of the controls. The manual says the pickups are Passive. However, you install a 9 volt battery. I know on my Ibanez 200, which is an Active bass, you need to make sure there is nothing connected to the output, as even when not using the bass you are draining the battery.

Is the same scenario present on the 300? Does one position on the Power Tap switch - presumably the middle Humbucker position - turn off the active aspect? The reason I ask is that I often play with a Fender Mustang Micro and headphones. If I turn off the Micro and do not remove it, am I draining the battery, if the switch is in the middle position?

Most active basses have passive pickups, but an preamp that requires the 9V battery.

You have to make sure that you unplug it if you do not want to drain the battery.

As far as I understand it, no position of that power tap switch will turn off the active aspect.

Especially with the headphone amp, you’d always want to unplug it after each use. The point of failure is the weakest point by the hinge. I broke the wireless transmitter once and it didn’t take much. Just cracked and it’s done.

Not limited to this thread but if you ever have hardware that is fragile around the jack a small male to female extender cable can help; it removes the stress from the jack.

You just leave the gear plugged in to one end and plug or unplug the other as needed. No more stress on the gear’s jack (or plug.)
