Jaco Pastorius: Modern Electric Bass

Absolutely, @Al1885. It is absolutely no wonder that many of the best of the best bass players regard Jaco as an original world-class artist.

I got to see him play live once. While I didn’t understand everything he did, which was other-worldly, it was spell-binding to see and hear.

It was the same when I saw Stanley Clarke, Dizzy Gillespie, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra each play their respective concerts. Intense, intimidating, and so goddamn inspirational.

I’m sure it’s against the forum rules. No politics, no religion, no Jaco trashing.

Like we’ve said before there’s room for everyone, even The Eagles.

To get to the topic of this thread: I’ve been doing two of the exercises from Modern Electric Bass (#10 and #13) for the past few weeks and am absolutely loving them. And one day I will learn all the notes on the fingerboard, like Jaco says. Yes, I will, I believe…

Everyone can appreciate Jaco’s music I think the best ones can appreciate the next dimension of his genius. He’s like onions the higher your skills and knowledge the more layers you can peel.
