Josh actually plays bass! (new single)

I submit to the court - evidence that I do indeed do the thing I teach some of y’all to do! Here’s the first single from a record I’m really excited about that I recorded with a Bay Area local band Burrows and Dilbeck (formerly Frobeck) -

This was a rare opportunity to actually use slap bass in a real song, not just in bedroom noodles. :stuck_out_tongue:

More songs to come, and hope they’ll put some summer gigs on the books soon for you locals.

Wow, the bass really holds that song down, and they mixed you front and center. Sounds awesome.

Very cool, congrats! Just for S/G I searched you name on spotify. Are you the very same Josh Fossgreen that played on Jimmy Grants album?

This is such a fun song, the solo and break has awesome basslines. I love it. Now I want to do the cover of this one.

I loved the outro to this one. Seemed like they had it in them to extend it out another 5 minutes and turn it into a jam track from there.

Yeah absolutely.

Yes, I recorded that more than a decade ago, but seems like it just actually came out!

To my knowledge there are no other Josh Fossgreens on earth. (or elsewhere :alien: )

Haha yes could keep that Ramones bass vibe running forever!

Love it, will use for the BassBuzz metal album :metal:

I’m getting strong Highlander vibes from this statement

Cool! Maybe you could tell us a little bit about each song (as they get released)? Such as which bass you played and what effects you (or the engineer) used, if any? Who decided on slap vs finger (you? the composers? the engineer?) Were you given lead sheets/chords or written out bass lines? And so on…
That could be very educational

I have to admit I was almost expecting to hear licks and riffs similar to the intros to the lessons. I was impressed that you played for the song… not for Josh. Yet you still got a few tasty fills in there. Awesome!

Strong work Josh! I’m not quite there yet but maybe some day. I have started practicing a little outside the lessons by playing a simple guitar loop and then making up bass lines with the loop. It’s been a blast actually!

Maybe time to start cuttin’ heads?

(Sorry, couldn’t help but exploit the crossover in terms between music and Highlander, even if nobody gets it)

Ha, had to look it up. learned a new musical phrase tonight. I’ve heard it playing basketball years ago, didn’t realize it came from Jazz musicians.

Inspiring :metal:t2:. Playing the game always requires more than a few level ups than practicing for the game :sunglasses:. Thanks for sharing.
