Knee Problems

I didn’t want to invade the shoulder problem thread. I started a 5 week gel shot treatment for both knees today. Jumping off of gunmounts in the Navy his finally taken it’s toll. I would like to avoid any type of surgery. I had gel shots about 2 years go on my left knee. It helped. This might be a thing ever couple years I guess.

Fingers crossed for you. Thanks for doing your job. I signed on the with the Navy after a couple of years of wasting time and money on no good. Bags were packed and the bus was waiting for me but I failed the hearing test after playing out the previous night. Probably a good thing as I get seasick.

Knee problems are no fun. I could start a back surgery thread too. Keep us posted please. I got the shivers looking at the loaded needles.

Good luck with the treatments.

Reminds me of my youth. Close, but not quite.

Growing up I used to go to a doctor visit with my aunt, the doctor would take out a couple of syringes with fluid in the knees (knee effusion).

Hope you feel better my friend.

One of my L4-5 discectomies was recorded. I watched it once and it turned my stomach. Burned the link right after that.

I know you were not here before my forced federal vacation, but I went thru hell with my knees.

I had my first knee blowout in the 5th grade (left knee - soccer) and second in 6th grade.then at 18 years old I was in a car wreck that nearly did me in, compound fracture of right femur, which was hell on my knees. Then an active life of sports and mild participation extreme sports I have had many surgeries.

Long story a lil less long, by 49yrs old I could hardly walk. I was completely bone on bone.

So, total knee replacement has been a godsend. I was even able to dislocate and break the shit out of my ankle playing pickle ball on the yard. Landed me in the hospital in north Tucson for 12 days and had s basic reconstruction of my ankle.

So, the knees are now fine.

I hope to test them on the mountain this winter.

Hope your knees are good with shots and rehab, but if it grts bad, toyat replacement is awesome, and is gonna be better then any other king of knee reconstruction surgery, and for me it was better then even arthroscopic surgeries I have had over the years to remove cartilage or repair minor tears.

Hope this works for you again. Not sure of your age or your physical condition but if you are active knee replacements can give you a lot of active pain free years. Mine were done, 6 months apart, and I would never even know now. I have no discomfort, and play pickleball with ease. A guy I play with is 80 and miserable with his knee, limping, constant pain. He had the surgery and is very happy for how he feels now.

If the shots work, that is fantastic but don’t completely reject the idea of knee replacement.

It could give you years of pain free activity.

Just my 2 cents.

I am on crutches right now. The dogs treat my knee as a trampoline. Nearly lost the leg at three years old. Bursitis sucks.

Knee surgery may be in the future, but for now, I’ll try the shots. I’m not close to bone on bone yet. I’m 64 and very active. I try to work out 5 days a week and still ride a jet ski! I haven’t skied yet this year, I’ve been doing some upgrades on my truck, so I haven’t had a tow vehicle. My ski friends don’t ski so much lately, I don’t like skiing solo. Skiing kills my back more than my knees though. Tomorrow is gel shot day, then Thursday we are off to Jamaica for week!
