Get back to me when you’ve read it. I enjoy these sorts of reads. As long as it’s not too dry.

Bought it about 30 seconds after reading your post. This type of thing is most definitely up my alley. Thanks for sharing!

Certainly sounds interesting. Would be good to hear back once read the book or maybe a semi-regular update as you go through the different parts :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m often on the lookout for suggestions when people ask what I want for birthday or Father’s Day.

Yeah! Right! Get back to me when you’ve read it.

I’m interested in the OP’s opinion on the book since he brought it up so enthusiastically.

What you say, @KevinM?

It seems that @KevinM has been AWOL for four months. So… :man_shrugging:

I’ve skimmed it and now about 100 pages into the reread. It’s good! It covers practice and performance improvements. Many studies to back up her conclusions. I’m trying not to be hyperbolic but this book will improve anybody’s game. Anybody!

Did I break a rule? Yeah! I like the forum but have trouble with the software design & operation. I’m not sure why.

Sometimes you just have the feeling something is very good. I’ve skimmed the book and am now digging in. I think Learn Faster, Perform Better will wind up on required/suggested reading lists.

I’ve got two other non-fiction books I’m currently reading and am trying to be cautious about spreading my attention too thin. That said, I really wanted to go ahead and dive into this one. I just finished reading the first few chapters this morning.

So far - highly recommend. You get a bit of info about how the learning process works in the brain (synapses, axons, myelination, etc.), what common strategies are not so great and why, and practical recommendations for implementing practice strategies that work well. Very much looking forward to the rest of the book.

Yeah! I want my basslines to be well myelinated “grooves.” See what I did there?

Molly Gebrain makes the complex understandable, and usable. It’s hard to do but she researched 200 books and studies in the making of this book. It’s cutting-edge stuff, Mike!

Ha! Not entirely true. I have skimmed the whole book and am now on a second, detailed read. May your performances be well myelinated!

Yay! Go Myelin!

I got the book for kindle due to your statement, and found it well researched and well written at first glance (having a cognitive science background myself).

So, thanks @KevinM !
