Learning past B2B (pickup music)

first off wanted to say that B2B has been truly amazing and i have learned key foundational concepts within just 1 month. The material was super engaging and fun to learn. genuinely looked forward to each lesson.

that being said im looking to develop my skills further. and until bass buzz releases an intermediate course. i came across pickup music. has anyone experimented with this before? im finding the structure really good and the ability to learn more intermediate and advanced concepts.

other sites mentioned include SBL and talkingbass but i found those a little too academic or the learning sytles not matching up

You got all the way through B2B in just a month?!?

I recommend your next step be putting things into contextual practice. Learn songs. Join/start a band or find people around to jam with. If you just want to do your own thing, start recording and mixing.

Get a sense of things in context and a clear picture of your strengths and weaknesses. Then find a local instructor who can help fine tune YOUR things.

For next skills after what the course covered, I’d recommend learning different right-hand techniques and dialing those in: pick, slap, palm mute plucking, etc. Fretless is also super fun and has a lot to teach.

yes haha was quite a packed month of learning but i enjoyed it. appreciate the reply! deciding where to go, think i want to continue to learn skills and play songs online.

would be happy to play with people but don’t know too many around the area. i’m thinking that posting covers or solo playing isn’t a bad idea as a start.

Start asking around. Look for ads and/or put some up yourself.

Craigslist. Facebook Groups. Meetup groups. Go into music stores or music schools. Look for community college or other community bands.

Interesting post, I was wondering the same. I’m playing again at church, but would love to continue online learning as well. Pickup has my interest for sure.

yeah pickup music is great. very good next step after B2B since it has a lot of intermediate and advanced learning paths. the course structure is similar and engaging like bassbuzz. nothing can beat josh’s teaching in B2B, but this is the closest next step that i have found
