Let's talk Japan! (advice needed, 下さい)

Pfft… the one I want (Beta 5) is 3k… + 1.2k of customs/vat.

Hoping I can hide it under my beard or trenchcoat

Which one, the Black Smoker or the Atelier Z?

AtelierZ.
Loving the sound of those basses… been searching a lot for them to see if I go crazy or behave.

Cool, yeah, the first store I mentioned above (Kurosawa Gakki) has a bunch of those. Great looking instruments.

Ikebe has a bunch of the Black Smokers (you can even see them in the pic above).

One word - Wagu
Life changing.
If for some reason you don’t eat beef, make that a western hemisphere thing for the trip.

Ahh yeah, that reminds me I didn’t get the chance to show you my favorite burger chain.

Yes, wagyu and cheddar

See if you can track down a copy of Casiopea’s self titled album. Some of the greatest and most absurdly fun jazz-fusion bass playing ever.

Seriously. Do you love video games? This is obviously the inspiration for the soundtrack to Mario Kart.

That burger has a tattoo!
It would be in my stomach before I’d notice though. Sheesh. That pic actually gave me chills. Man I gotta lose weight :joy:

Sugoi!
I was there last spring and am planning on maybe going back next spring.
While I was there last year, I filmed my adventures for my YouTube channel. You can see the playlist here:

My videos are mainly showing me looking for Geocaches while I was there. I do some “weeb-ish” things since I like anime as well. I visit a Gachapon store (capsule toys), visit two Gundam locations, visit Ghibli Studio, go to Kamakura to see the Great Buddah (Dai-Butsu), go Geocaching with Japanese Geocachers and I also made a pilgrimage to Shimo-kitazawa to visit locations that were featured in my favorite anime: “Bocchi the Rock”. This anime got me interested in learning how to play music again (I used to play guitar). One of the characters in it plays bass, I chose to learn how to play bass because of her (that’s why I am here learning how to play bass).
The town of Shimo-kitazawa is a “music town” with lots of live houses where you can watch bands perform. There is a live house called SHELTER (it is the main location and live house featured in “Bocchi the Rock”) where you can catch shows and it’s not too far from the train station. I plan on seeing a show there when I visit next.
I hope you film your adventures there. It would be fun to see what you do and all the bass stores you visit.
If we visit at the same time you do, it might be fun to meet up with you and maybe catch a show at SHELTER.

Yeah Shimokitazawa is great. Good place to live too, have a few friends there.

Ghibli Museum is cool too, not very far from central Tokyo, and Kichijoji is also a really cool town.
