Line 6 is back in the bass game

Many years ago I stabbed myself in the meaty part of my thumb and opened up a good sized gash. After trying to stop the bleeding multiple times with bandaids, gauze and tape, I resorted to duct tape and that did an outstanding job  probably wouldn’t pass as acceptable treatment if I did that to someone else at work though

 duct tape makes for a killer bandaid! Just fold up some toilet paper and tape that sucker! I do this at least once a week…the downside to always working with razor knives and every type of saw you can imagine….

The tape is just so bulky I don’t think I can fret with it taped like that! I got some superglue at home, hope it can handle some slides!

One of my hobbies used to be straight razors. Some amazing cuts from that. No notable scars though, almost disappointing really

Hope you’re all healed up. If you have used it, what are your thoughts? I was thinking the Zoom B2 Four, but this seems like a great way to learn effects for a bedroom hobbyist like myself.

I got one a month or so ago and I really really like it. I used to use a Zoom B1X four with a little Behringer interface for recording but sold the pair and got the POD. I was thinking of an Ampero but I’m not mad on touchscreens and the POD has pretty much all the functions I’m ever going to need. They’ve made some weird choices for a couple of the bundled effects IMO but what the hey.

I bought the LINE 6 POD Express Bass effects pedal. I was going back and forth between it and the ZOOM B2 Four. I figured both have more effects than I’ll ever use and for the additional cost of the Zoom, I wouldn’t know what I was getting as far as effects go, so I went with the Line 6. I have had it about a month and have only used it a few times until the other day when I saw that Line 6 now has an Express Editor App. So I connected the POD to my MacBook, and using the editor app, WOW! How easy to create sounds. Now, I’m not great at knowing if a band is using compression, distortion or fuzz, or an Ampeg or an SVT, or really how to match tones well, but using the editor, you can switch between preset sounds or copy and manipulate the presets to get to the sound you want. That’s AWESOME! And then you can label your sound by band or song or whatever. Want to play Def Leppard and then U2, just switch to your other preset. Now you just have to figure out how to copy the tones from the songs you want to play. There are only 20-something presets, so you are limited there.

I plugged the POD into my Fender Rumble 40. It sounds good, but you can’t disconnect the EQ part from the speaker part and I can’t help but think that the Fender is manipulating the sounds from the POD by going through the Fender EQ. I have a powered speaker that I plugged into the headset jack of the POD. I think this will give a more “pure” sound of the effects coming from the POD. The POD also has some larger cable ports on the back (I initially used one to plug into my Fender amp). I’m not sure if you can plug powered speakers into those without some kind of adapter.

The POD is plastic, but feels sturdy and somewhat heavy. Not as heavy as if it were metal, but heavier than you might think for it being plastic. I wouldn’t worry about stepping on it, except for the rotating knobs. I wouldn’t want to step on those. I put it on a music stand anyway, so it doesn’t matter.

With the editor app, it is so much better, IMO. I need to figure out the best speaker setup, but so far I think the POD was a good purchase and I’d recommend it if someone was looking for an effects pedal.

I just bought the POD after I saw a few videos featuring the Express Editor App. The amount of tweakable settings in on the POD once you have the app is incredible (and a bit overwhelming at first). I’m really happy with it so far.
