Locking Fingers

For some reason while practicing my pinky finger gets locked up for no reason. I don’t understand the reason and after sometime it really tires up my pinky. Any advice you guys got ??

Maybe trigger finger? Google it and see if it fits your symptoms.

I mean it kinda fits but I’m not totaly sure

Mine does pretty much the same thing, and I think it’s a separate issue from trigger finger. (Which I also have, yay.) From what I’ve read, it seems the joint is hyperextending and getting locked out.

I’ve been meaning to order a small plastic brace that is supposed to keep it from getting to the hyperextended point, but don’t have direct experience with them yet. Need to figure out what size to order and get on it.

My hope is that preventing it from locking out will force me to use it in a different way, such that I can build up dexterity.

It does sound like trigger finger. I have it on my right hand. Had it on my left hand, and had surgery to fix it. See a doctor and have it checked out.

Paying wise I have to play around the finger I get it on as that finger is just not reliable. Use the ring finger instead and microshift.

It could be the symptoms of some kind or simply lack of strength.

Yes, you only need a tiny amount of pressure and power to fret a note but it requires 10-20 more times your fingers strength to make it effortless.

Trigger finger kind of sounds like what I’ve always had in my left middle finger with the locking when bent. As a kid I used to be able to just let it sit in the locked position for extended periods of time. Never any pain or swelling or inflammation. Now my fingers are pudgy enough that the compressing flesh is enough to pop it back out.
