More "After B2B" advice requested

Hello Bass friends!

I am excited to be very close to completing B2B (3 more lessons in Module 15 remain). This 2.0 version of the course has been an absolute joy and I so appreciate Josh’s steadfast and often hilarious encouragements as much as the amazing, beautifully organized curriculum and expert training. I am brimming with confidence and enthusiasm to build on this.

So first, here is one person’s plea: Puh-LEASE Josh, create a follow on course for all of your newly minted Bass BadA$$’s to continue on through their “intermediate” status. I will be the first to subscribe!

But… until then, I need to know where to go. Apologies in advance, as I know that this topic has been covered in many threads, but I want to ask for some specific time-sensitive advice.

Many folks recommend Talking Bass as the next tier of online instruction, and from my watching a few videos, I tend to agree. And for a few more days only, it looks like most of Mark’s courses are on a Black Friday sale. Hence the time-sensitive part.

My question is, which one should I get first?? I’m thinking the Technique Builder (Josh has shown me that proper technique at the outset is the key to joy going forward). But maybe the Groove Trainer? Also, I know some theory and really appreciate how a good understanding can open many musical doors. So maybe that?

Any and all advice appreciated! Thank you!

Here’s the word from the proverbial horse’s mouth

Looks like the Groove Trainer could be the one to go for.

Yes, Groove Trainer would be the one. Technique Builder would be OK for you but one thing I do have to stress is that if you were a beginner when moving into B2B, you will still really be a beginner now, just not a complete beginner. I say this because I suspect some people will have problems picking another course, whether with TalkingBass or SBL, because of that indecision about level. It’s all too easy to pick a course and then suddenly realise you’re facing a lot of jargon and technical difficulties you didn’t anticipate.

Groove Trainer should be a fairly smooth entry point for those of you that have finished B2B.

My goodness, what an amazing, helpful forum! Universally kind too, as many are not.

With a fair amount of egg now on my face for not just searching for my answer, y’all have put THE answer right in front of me, and from the man himself! Thank you, Mark and Phil! I am very grateful!

Headed your way! All the best!

I just started the Groove Trainer course, seemed like the most logical next step for me. So far I am liking it. Mark teaches different than Josh just so you know. Oh, and I can’t stop staring at the bass Mark uses. Damn, it’s a beauty. :sign_of_the_horns:t2:

I’ve been liking Nate Navarro’s ebook and the videos that come with it, though if you liked Josh’s more direct approach, there’s less actual teaching that happens here.
