Most famous bass?

I’m pretty sure it would be Pauls Hofner but who elses bass would be up there, Lemmys Rickenbacker maybe?

McCartney’s distinctive and universally recognizable Hofner “Beatle Bass” is the most iconic electric bass, bar none. Countless millions of people — Beatles fans, or not — would know it on sight.

Paul Simonon’s bass from London Calling is pretty recognisable

And Gene Simmons axe is fairly well known too

I thought of Jaco, but I think Mike’s got this one. It doesn’t matter if you’re a bass player or even a musician, everyone can picture that Hofner that McCartney’s got on the Ed Sullivan show.

I loved that show.

I want to deduct points because that sweet ass leather chest harness isn’t for the bass.

I somehow never noticed it was a quadruple-P

For me it will always be Lemmy’s Rickenbacker. Nothing personifies rock more than Lemmy and his Rick. These images are permanently seared into my brain. Love this early shot here from his Hawkwind days.

Quote from Lemmy about his Hawkwind departure:
“Getting thrown out of Hawkwind for liking the wrong drugs, is like being thrown from the Empire State Building for liking heights!”

Correct answer!

That quote works on many levels. Lenny was a true philosopher

Oh most definitely. Lemmy was as sharp as he was loud. This book here is filled with little nuggets of wisdom.

I saw the documentary about him and was in total aw!
He IS rock’n roll. Even Iggy Pop would look like his prom queen girlfriend next to him.

Thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

EDIT ordered the book!

I’d have to go with Jaco’s Bass of Doom - for all the stuff that was played on it, for the drama surrounding Jaco versus the end, for the whole frets being pulled out/being smashed to pieces/being restored/being stolen and missing/being found/being freed from legal quibbles kind of story.
And because it sings again/still:
