One nice thing the P’s have are the screws in the middle, yeah. With humbuckers you can raise or lower either end but with P’s you can also do it directly under the A and D strings.
Yes @howard - That’s what I’m diggin’ the most.
Well now I feel like dick for laughing. I thought you would be able to pop it off, turn it around, and put it back on. I know there’s more to it with having clean up the old glue, but is there something else going on that I don’t understand?
Just-a-nuts aren’t flat topped. I initially thought that the plastic ones were, but took it out and had another look at it before writing it as fact. It’s got as tilted top on it so that the strings don’t rock across the bottom of the channel contact points.
The new brass Just-a-nut iii is heavily tilted and pictured above. They work in one direction only, otherwise I’d have a 34 & 1/4 inch bass which slowly saws through the nut with each retuning.
While I was explaining the issue to my previous manager this morning, my phone beeped with an email from the distributor apologising profusely and letting me know they’d get a replacement in the mail right away.
They said that they didn’t know how it happened because the nuts come sealed from Germany.
That’s when the penny dropped about something I thought was odd. I opened the express post bag to find another thick dark brown cardboard envelope. It had a tear tag on it, but absolutely no other marking. Inside that was the nut in a small plastic bag.
Of course, I didn’t bother to note the part number ended in LH… until much later…
No way Krescht! You can’t tease people like that. We need more pics.
Damn… that’s pretty bad ass.
World class bass for sure.
Very nice.
Not as cool as that ABSOLUTE STUNNER @Krescht rolled out, I am at the third in what I am sure will be many (not for a long time though, the wife said this will make you happy do it, but so help me another Bass comes in in the next 6 months…) I did not allow her to finish that sentence, thanked her and told her that even at 5’9” (I’m 6’6”), she terrifies me and took this girl home.
I did post in another thread, but wanted to share my newest!
Sorry to share so much, but these things make me so damned happy!
I love that color
I do understand your happiness
Beautiful! Congrats! Did you use the Sandberg ‘Configurator’, or was it an ‘off-the-shelf’ purchase?
Thanks @sfadams
It was an off-the-shelf online purchase. I was tempted by configuring my own bass, but seeing that beauty was enough for me just to get it. Some day…
I’m looking for a new J bass and that Squire just made my short list.
My favourite Sandberg design. If I happened across one (lefty) ‘on-the-shelf’, I’d surely buy it without a second thought. The humbucker at the bridge gives a Stingray sound, and the split coil neck pup of course gives you a P-bass. And of course you can blend them to your taste. Enjoy.
Well, it’s a small company, so you’d have to be very lucky to happen across a lefty by chance. However, I think they don’t charge extra for custom lefties
stunning.
What’s the word for genuinely pleased for you and intensely jealous at the same time?
Thanks @Gio
I don’t think that word exists, though someone really should create it in this age of social media
But there should also be a word for wanting to share your joy with kindred souls while not wanting to show off (which would be the last thing I’d want to do)
