Musician / Band - Films

What are some of the films you’ve seen, and your opinion - did the producers do the artist(s) justice?

Walk The Line - 2oo5 - Johnny Cash - The first time I saw this I thought they focused too much on the darkness of his addiction but seeing it again, I think they did a good job.

Bohemian Rhapsody - 2o18 - Queen/Freddie Mercury - Enjoyed this story and the tension of the band’s ability to face challenges.

Rocketman - 2o19 - Elton John - Interesting they captured his absolute joy of performing at the beginning given how nervous he was back then.

The Doors - 1991 - Jim Morrison - Just saw this recently - Don’t know how I missed it all these years. What a journey of poetry and intensity.

All your movies OK, except this one. To quote Denis Leary:

“Do we need a two-hour movie about the Doors? No. I can sum it up in five seconds: I’m drunk, I’m nobody; I’m drunk, I’m famous; I’m drunk, I’m dead.”

Don’t know, but If you want a great watch check this full documentary on YT about 3 brothers who pretty much invented punk rock back in the 70s.

Ray was superb, and it was fully approved of by Ray himself.

Jamie Foxx is not only a classically trained musician and composer but also a consummate actor.

I think there was one about this group, er, lumbar Puncture, Epidural, Spinal Tap? Something medical.
Supposed to be a bit dry and serious but there is rumored to be a sequel in the works so it might be ok.

My two faves for sure, with Control for the feeling and 24HPP for the humor. My favorite person in both is Gretton.
