My wife says I spend too much time on this forum

Keep in mind that the B2B forum is for beginners and for badasses. There are varying degrees of both here.

Ever since I started B2B, I keep this forum up on a permanent tab, so yeah.

My husband is supportive of me hanging around here and also about buying stuff. In fact, he’s more eager to buy me things than I am. He’s the one who instantly bought me a starter set after I had told him that I’d like to learn how to play. I’m really glad he did! So, sorry, not having that problem.

I’m the same with my wife. She got a wooden flute from the Ren Fair and was playing it all the time, and getting really good at it.

I encouraged her to get a student model flute and take lessons. She only took a few lessons, but she’s gotten pretty good on the flute on her own. The only teacher she could find was a classical/orchestra flute player, and she wants to play jazz.

I’ve been encouraging her to take lessons again. I think it’d be a lot of fun to play together. I’ve been trying to find her a flute teacher on YouTube of Josh’s caliber, but haven’t found one yet. I need to get on that.

Here’s a video for her that might be interesting:

Thank you!

My wife is always enamored with how sweet and supportive everyone is. Unsuspectingly, this isn’t the rest of the internet.

@MikeC Did you put that in thinking everyone would recognize that term, or did you put it in to have most people scrambling to google it?

I know that word because of Iron Maiden. Read the book after listening to the record and realizing that Harris must’ve liked the title because the book had nothing to do with the lyrics.

My wife doesn’t really read or visit the site but she knows that I spend time here with you peeps. So it’s safe to say in the event that she comes on here, it’s been nice knowing you all. :joy:

I’ve had this exact thought.

Yes this is a special place.

I used grok because it is the verb that most closely conveys the complete empathetic and emotional understanding one can have about a concept.

I love the books of Robert Heinlein, as do millions of others around the world. And Stranger in a Strange Land is my favorite. Heinlein brilliantly coined the word grok.

my wife? no. my boss? yes.

It did exactly as intended. Excellent word.

Disclaimer: I did “look up” grok. Love it! I already used that word with my kids this morning.

I did not mean to upset you, I did not know that ‘grok’ was a term widely used. Wikipedia has a whole article on the term ‘grok’ and they did say that is used in the ‘computer programmer culture?’. I was tickled that @Al1885 used it on his kids this morning.
Heinlein was my favorite SF author as well. He had a very interesting life.
I still have all of his books in print form, not sure why I keep them since I have not read them in years. Of all this books Stranger in a Strange Land and Starship Troopers are probably the best known.
I must say I never read The Man Who Fell to Earth. In fact I only knew it was a movie with David Bowie in it, which I also never watched. Do you recommend the book?
