NAMM 2026

I am not sure that any forum member went, but if anyone did or if you have seen any of the youtube videos on the new bass offerings upcoming, anything of interest? The Ibanez Mode series look pretty cool. Also, the Sire V7. I wonder if the “new generation” V7 is worth the additional $ over the “2nd gen.”

According to online articles and videos, the 2026 New-Gen Sire V7 includes upgrades inspired by the Marcus Miller Signature V8:

  • Sire’s patented Edgeless™ fretboard is more extremely rounded than older V7 models

  • Stainless steel frets

  • Lightweight aluminum tuners to minimize neck dive

  • Luminlay side dots for increased visibility in dark environments

I did an absymal job of documenting NAMM this year, took almost no photos and missed most of the gear! Highlights…

  • Meeting more BassBuzz fans and students
  • Hanging out with friends from last time
  • Bringing Mandi, who helps me appear more sociable by at least 87%
  • Seeing Mike Dirnt and Justin Chancellor on stage with Primus :exploding_head:

I haven’t been following super-closely, but of the things I’ve seen, the innovations coming from Shark are pretty dang cool!

The tremolo and removable necks are one thing, and amazing in their own right. But the height adjustable frets really threw the old noggin into a spin!

FYI, here’s a New-Gen V7 demo from the Sire booth. It sounds damn good:

I agree. It looks like an August release. I guess I can wait that long.

Sire seems to have hit it out of the park this year. Besides the V7, which is lighter in weight too, they have the V1 passive coming. Good for them, in a year when updates from major companies seem mostly focused on updating finishes. Like the Sterling short scale now comes in Sherwood green. Meh

Agreed. I do usually like to get my guitars used, but I am seriously gassing for either the Sire new generation V7 or the something from the Ibanez Mode Series. But all those knobs on the Ibanez seem like overkill…

I thought Reverend had some good updates for Namm this year. Besides the new subdued colors which I liked tbh. Most of their new pickups and configs are all on the guitar side though (bit of a bummer).

Now hold on a minute there. Sherwood Green is a great stand-in for the middle years of British Racing Green. Which were its best years. (Vintage and modern BRG are the darker one most associate with it.)

I like Sherwood green. When I got my mustang body, the was an American Pro body in Faded Sherwood Green Metallic available and I was tempted. But the AM Pros are notorious for misaligned bridges and didn’t want to deal with that. Besides, Orange reminds me of Toby.

What I was trying to say is that if the color of a bass is the highlight of your NAMM display, it’s a bit underwhelming. And there was a lot of that at NAMM this year
