Worrying about sustain on a bass is always so funny. The bass I had with the worst sustain still had more than enough sustain - several measures of whole notes at any reasonable tempo - for any song that the audience wouldn’t simply walk out from.
but both have similar, quite incredible levels of sustain.

I mean it’s plausible he’s right! I’m just saying it doesn’t matter because sustain is a silly factor to worry about.
