Need new tuning machines

I have one that has a ton of slack and is difficult to tune. This is an inexpensive Donner and was hoping the current ones are a somewhat common configuration. Any budget suggestions for a $130 bass.

Thanks

Gotoh makes good quality, inexpensive tuners.

I was able to get discounted Gotohs from the dealers I mean sales reps at Sweetwater. They sent out one of those make a deal emails. Dunno if that helps!

Is this a bass you want to put more money into or is it time to upgrade your bass to a better platform for future upgrades? My favorite bass is my Squier classic vibe 70’s P bass. they are like $400 new. I have upgraded the tuning machines, bridge, and pickups. Worth every penny to me.

SAME - but the Jazz version of this Squire, and I went nuts and put about $900 into it.The only things original are the neck, body, and the screws that hold them together. This was my gateway bass/drug into modding and it still is one of my favorites.

I have no hesitation putting a few dollars into this one. It’s my BEAD set up, I have another bass as well.

If you have a guitar store nearby they might be able to make you a good deal with tuners from the spare parts box.

I just “upgraded” a cheap e-violin with guitar tuners my local shop had lying around, I got them for 10 CHF each including the tiny wood screws
