New bass but its over driving the amp

I hope someone can answer this…
My son bought me a Sire M2 and its awesome but I have a question. The bass even in passive mode overdrives the amp something terrible. Its a SWR LA 12 and it does fine with all the other basses but this one seems to be too much for it. I’ve thought about lowering the pick ups but before doing that I thought I’d reach out and see if anyone else had experienced something like this.

Do you have a preamp pedal with a pad? If so try running in though that with the pad engaged.

I will I have a zoom B2, I’ll let you know

Hmm that might work, if it lets you adjust the volume while “bypassed”. Zoom pedals are never really bypassed, they are just active with no effects. So it might work.

Ideally what you want to try is a preamp with a selectable input pad, usually a toggle for -10db or so on or off.

I have an art tube preamp that might do this better I’ll bring it here tomorrow and give it a shot
