So got a new bass yesterday, the same make as my other one, old one an Ibanez SR 500 E new one an Ibanez an SR 3500 Prestige.
Both have the same size neck and strings however the new bass seems to ‘ring’ more unless the strings are completely muted. I don’t notice this on the old one.
So is it:
a much better quality instrument therefore requires a higher skill level.
Different, more sensitive electronics so the ringing is easier to hear.
Strings could be set up differently (maybe lower).
It’s a new bass and it takes a bit of time to get used to it.
Your Ibanez also has the individual saddle it’s really solid the Nordstrand pickup is also hotter than the SR soapbar pickup. Not to take anything away from Made in Indonesia, but instruments made in Japan are better made, even better made than some US made all add to tighter tolerance and quality control.
But at the end of the day this ^^^^ is probably the best explanation. Some strings lose their zing after a few weeks.
