Crappy attempt at pickguard…putting this aside for a bit to consider other finish options and get it out of my headspace…also need to keep going on the B2BA course

I don’t think you are too far off from making this a real looker.
Give your creative juices a rest and maybe something will come to you.
Perhaps a plastic pickguard custom done to contrast, or simply round the curves a bit and stain it darker?
I still think you have a winner in there.
