Bill Clements is definitely an inspiration to me. Just watching him the words, “I can’t” go back down the throat. The guy has ONE arm. What possible excuse could I have? Where there’s a will there’s a way, which may also account for this gentleman’s unorthodox approach:

Ok I had to look him up because I had no idea what was going on there. So apparently he switched from violin to bass at around age 12, held the bass like a violin while learning to play, and then just went with it.
Here’s him explaining it (3 minutes into the video):
