One-pickup basses (single coil), what's the deal?

Thank you for the kind words @MikeC @howard @faydout @sshoihet

I’m just a gear head, I blame 100% to P bass and Covid. P bass because I’ve never owned one till Covid and well you know what happened with the lock down, there’s nothing to do but GAS.

We just had this discussion with @JustTim and @JerryP I usually ended up playing one song with a dozen basses at a time for different inspiration.

This one has your bass in it too, it’s one of my favorite.

Speaking of one pickup. this cover includes not only one pickup bass the Squier Sonic Bronco it’s not even a bass pickup it’s a Guitar pickup from Stratocaster. It’s of course heavily modded. I changed everything except for the body, neck, and string. It stacks up pretty well against the other 2 basses 20 times its price.

I do have a favorite but I can’t say that now my computer is in the shed among the few of the basses, and the last thing I want is a mutiny  Enjoy!

My shed used to feel so empty.

It was supposed to be my drum room, well that didn’t work out well for my drum set.

Wow, impressive! I enjoyed the videos a lot. You are an awesome player! :fire: And that BassBuzz bass is so cool! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

It’s interesting to hear the same song played with different bass guitars, but they are all so good, I can’t even say which one of these I liked the most. They are different, but all are great. The BassBuzz bass sounds amazing!

Be careful lest people think you’re talking about the “other” AI

I always enjoy your posts and playing, you and @howard save me a lot of time by writing things before I have to

I didn’t know you only started during covid, that’s even more impressive!

I only bought 1 bass this year because i bought 2 bicycles and rebuilt 2 others… im having trouble splitting my time between bass, road/mtb and paddle boarding while also working nights  and i haven’t touched drums in about 6mos  eh, that’s what winter is for.

My pbass is always going to be my favourite, I often wonder how many basses i’d actually have if i’d bought the pbass 1st instead of 4th

Before Covid I had a Ken Smith, 2 Tobias (Gibson) BBNE2 and maybe a couple more. I mainly played the Tobias and Spector.

My era of playing it’s all about Active Pre and sexy looking bass, everyone I know always complains about the “Fender” and how it “used to be” good. Funny people are still saying the exact same thing decades later.

Back in 2006, I could have scored a whole bunch of 60’s and 70’s Fender Jazz and Ps USA made for about $400-500 I just didn’t care about them. Plus some of them were worn out and stuffs, now those are going for $4000+ Grimes and all. Those were real tools too from studio players as some of them are always broke. I picked up a couple of Junos for a couple of hundreds a piece sold it for $2K in the middle of Covid, who knew?
