Out of phase - Need help - Passive EMG (GZR/MMHZ)

Hello all!

Really need your help on this one.
I’m having an issue of pickups being out of phase - on their own they sound as should, no buzz or noise. If blended together - there is only hi-mid/treble content left.
I have searched on google and in Talkbass forums. Couldn’t find an answer that would really help me. My understanding from answers is that hot and ground wire should be switched on P pickup and that it help most of the individuals who asked for a solution. Well, I’m using EMG system, not really versed in electrical stuff too, and I’m just stuck.
Before contacting EMG for support I thought I’ll pop here.

Everything is passive. Pickups are - EMG GZR and EMG MMHZ, going to a balance pot and to volume.

Please let me know if you need a picture of specific part from specific angle, bass is dismantled near me, so I can take it any minute.

Thank you all in advance!

Well, it’s a two lead P pickup so there’s only two ways to wire it. If you’re absolutely certain it’s out of phase and comfortable soldering, you could try flipping the leads at the pot end. That would of course void any warranty and carries all the risks of modding something.

If it is still in warranty I would contact them instead.

Hey Howard,

I did contact EMG, but they were closed for thanksgiving. I thought I’ll see what internet thinks about this in the meantime, hehe.

I got a response from EMG, so will leave this for anyone having the same issue in the future :
As per their suggestion, green and red wires on MMHZ connector should be swapped. Using a needle or like a really small screwdriver, you can unpin cables from their slots. Unpin both, swap their places back. No soldering required. This got MM pickup in phase.
