Glad we got over that part, and had a very informative session!
Edited to add: I noticed the above image was used in a post by Griff much earlier in this thread. I just saw it when going to the top to see the Part 2 posted. Sorry for reposting the image.
@John_E and @PamPurrs , finally watched the Part 1 video and wanted to say: 1. Thanks!! & 2. I wonāt hold the cash outlay against you as Iāve already contacted my Sweetwater Sales Engineer via email to give me a quote on a DAI, some studio monitors, and other gear. LoL
Now I just need to decide if I want to play around with Garage Band or download Reaper to my MacBook Air. I reckon if @Lanny and @Barney are using Garage Band, I oughta be able to make that work for a while.
Will check out Part 2 (the videoing portion) soon. Lord I hope youāre not gonna tell me Iām going to have to buy some fancy camera, etc. ???
Best camera is the phone you already have,
But I canāt promise it wonāt cause you to buy other things. Lol.
Glad you enjoyed, we are always here to help!
i donāt know how i look at this friggin forum like 20 times a day and am still always days behind on everything. nice job guys
Iām thinking about getting the $399 Zoom camera but right now itās more than I can afford.
Garage band works just fine. I seriously doubt I would outgrow it for my needs. The only reason I would change would be A - my Mac takes a shit and I get stuck with windows pc, and B - if I were to sell all my pedals and amps and start using all the effects and amp and cab sims in my DAW.
I am sure there are other reasons to upgrade from Garage Band to Reaper, but I donāt think they will ever really be applicable to me.
So I think Garage Band will be just fine for you, but you have to ask yourself what you want from a DAW, and how far you want to take music and music video production, and then find out if GB is capable to reach those goals. If not, then yeah, certainly spend for a DAW that is more capable, Reaper being super affordable is a great choice is my guess, but if you are able to do everything you want in GB now, and it fits your short and long term goals, just keep it, and only upgrade if you reach the point where it is no longer able to do what you need it to do.
Just 2 cents from a GB user that finds it does all I need it to and way more. Maybe I just have not gotten to that point yet.
you can actually do this in GB too, though Logic (or Reaper, etc) is much better or it.
Thats why I would upgrade for this. And if I sold all my pedals and amps, I could more than afford the Reaper upgrade. I am not there yet, and no plans soon.
The point I was trying to make to @JDDaniel is, that Garage Band is a very capable software, especially since it is free, it can do most what many will ever need.
Yeah, given that it is $60 total - but as you mentioned, for now there is no need for you to.
GarageBand is great for a free DAW. No need to use anything else if it meets your needs.
Thanks brother. @T_dub
Itās what I use, I like it because itās easy to use. Somewhere out there is a list of hit albums that were made with it, itās very capable.
Yep thereās absolutely nothing wrong with it. It has limitations, but many people will never run in to them.
I use GB as well JD, @JDDaniel ,
It is a great program, one stop shop, record video with photo booth and mix the GB track and Photo booth video in Imovie.
Bill @Lanny has a full tutorial on his website
Cheers Brian
We linked @Griffs tutorial in the first post of this thread
For those who attended (or watched the video of) the video tutorial, you may recall I talked about the importance of LUFS in your audio when uploading to YouTube or Vimeo. I demonstrated how to check LUFS in Resolve, and here our friend Kenny Gioia shows how to do it within Reaper.
Thanks Pam. That was informative.
I almost forgot how annoying his voice cadence is.
