Pedalboard nearly complete

Almost have my pedalboard complete. It was essentially completely complete until I got a Subsynth and now I have to velcro that in and route the power.

Very happy with this, not just because it’s a bunch of stuff I bought, but (also) because of the the positioning trail-and-error through gigging and stomping on it. And i’ve tried to keep the cabling as neat as I can.

The big pre-amp on the left is a Two Notes ReVolt, which needs 600mA 12V power. Rest comes from an MXR iso brick. So I velcroed a travel extension to the back of the board and connect the Two Notes power and the MXR to that, which saves me having to run 2 power cables at gigs.

The underside is where I’m really happy though. It went from this:

To this:

The back has the power brick, wireless charger and input and output compressors.

The Two Notes has an effect loop, so the chain is:
Boss Wireless
Korg Pitchblack tuner
(Big space where the Subsynth is gonna go. I have no use for it)
Crybaby bass wah
MXR Comp
EHX Nano Pog
Boss ODB (found in a cupboard. Kinda want a Source Audio aftershock :eyes:)
Earthquaker Blumes
Two Notes ReVolt bass
Effect loop
Ampeg Liquifier chorus
Strymon Brig (bought with Xmas bonus money for the fun of it)
Strymon Cloudburst
Second Comp
End effect loop
To power amp / d.i to FoH

I can’t remember if I’ve done comp before octave or the other way around - honestly can’t remember now. Was too busy fussing over tidy cables  Would need to grab it out the car to check.

What do you think?

Cheers

I also use comp before POG.

I was debating that cloudburst but went with a meris instead, paired with a Kelley Parallax for that soft focus reverb. Works beautifully with the cathedral effect on the meris.

Two Notes makes good stuff.

A couple questions - sorry if these are dumb, but they are coming from someone whose only “pedal” is a Zoom B2 Four he is still learning how to use…

  1. Why are your compressors upside down on the underside of the board?
  2. Why two compressor pedals?

Not dumb at all. There are three things going on.

  1. It saves space on top for other pedals.
  2. They’re on the bottom because they are always on. No need to access the foot switches to turn on or off.
  3. There are two compression pedals. One at the beginning of the chain and one at the end of the chain.

Compression at different points in the chain affect all the pedals that come after, and since everything affects everything else, it’s a way to control how much compression is affecting the sound of the other pedals.

For instance, some people are really picky about compression before versus compression after their overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedals.

It’s a pretty nice setup. Expensive, but pretty dang nice. :sunglasses::+1:

Exactly as @eric.kiser said.

The first compressor is set to a 8/1 ratio, the second one is 4/1 which is is the lowest those pedals will do.

It just smooths out my post pre-amp effects and helps keep the sound consistent.

I find so anyway

Thanks, built up over a lot of years, and thankfully got bits of it second hand. Found both compressors on facebook marketplace at different times.

Sound guys seem to like it so saves me time on stage

Same except I do 6:1 and 4:1 on mine.

That’s what I’ve been doing too. Lots of gifts and I wait for good deals to show up.
