Pedals' Layout

Is there a specific reason, technical or otherwise, for placing the IN on the right side of a pedal and the OUT on the left?
I personally find it more logical to do the reverse.

Simple reason: They are made for right handed guitars. The cable on the guitar comes out on the right side, and goes in on the right side of the pedal.

If it were the other way around, the cable would more often get in the way when you want to stomp one of your pedals.

But it is not so much of an issue that anyone ever would have bothered with left hand pedals.

Those still go right to left though  (or at least the ones I have do)

I legit love mixer-style jack mountings. I still think the Zoom U-24 is the best designed audio interface, despite its age and (by today’s standards) noisy preamps.

Cables go in on the right side because the other side is the wrong side
