Peter Frampton diagnosed with rare degenerative disease

Fortunately, this isn’t for the “In Memoriam” thread. He was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), a rare and progressive muscle disease.

If you’ve never seen it before, here’s the complete David Bowie Glass Spider tour concert, filmed for Australian TV. It’s my favorite Bowie concert (the set live was even more impressive than it looks in this video!). Frampton plays some excellent guitar in it!

Awesome, when I get a few I’ll go upstairs and listen to it through the computer on my sound system. Thank you.

My best man and his sons were fortunate enough to attend one of Mr. Frampton’s small venue sit down gathering last year I believe. It is the most personal up close event he has ever been to and hearing his life story in between the playing was as emotional as anything could be. I had goose bumps when my buddy was telling me about it. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, maaaan, this takes me back!!

I saw the the Glass Spider show at the old Wembley Stadium, London, Saturday June 20th, 1987 (thank you Google for the date!).

My then girlfriend, Debbie, was absolutely nuts about Bowie. Back then, even as students, we could afford the tickets … I rather suspect that today’s students would be priced out of a similar show.

It was fantastic! The video is also fantastic, the 80s hair, the 80s guitar headstocks, Bowie rocking a Steinberger for I wanna be your dog! And as you say, Peter Frampton

Bowie, along with Nivana, is an artist I am so happy to be able to say, yes, I saw him live. Thanks for posting this, @TheMaartian

Cool! I saw it in Milwaukee at the Marcus Amphitheater, an outdoor venue on Lake Michigan, on either the 10th or 11th of September, can’t remember which. And, yeah, I needed Wikipedia for the dates, but heh, that was 39 years and beaucoup drugs ago, so cut me some slack.

  • Toxic/Drug-Induced: Resulting from medications (e.g., statins, corticosteroids), alcohol, or exposure to toxins.
  • Critical Illness Myopathy: Occurs in ICU patients due to prolonged immobility and specific medications.

Interesting that statins can induce this. I watched an exceptionally robust man nearly get taken down by statins. Luckily his strength returned when he quit taking them.
