The Wooten phase is the most confusing. Dude is Jazz Master in a “bluegrass” band. Very loosely am i considering The Flecktones a grass band but im fairly certain Bela Fleck is in the bluegrass HOF. Wooten is very good and i like him but its still confusing.
Bela’s music is somewhat considered jazz banjo. He is, of course, an amazing bluegrass player as well, but it makes perfect sense to me that Vic plays in that band. It’s on the fringe. Certainly far from traditional. That said, Victor still has a solo career as well as playing with his brothers that are also a jazz act.
