Very damn cool.
Sounds and looks great!!
My 2-string slide bass is almost done from Dan. Should be getting it next week!!
This makes me very excited. O
I really like that. Right up my alley
Look Ma, no knobs
I like the bass a lot. But I would spec a build with zero relic-ing. I have no use for that. But that’s just me.
Otherwise, I dig his design choices.
And one of these
I considered getting one these bridges to install on the Sandberg California I briefly had.
The Sandberg bridge design is pretty, but it has a plethora of screws and (in my estimation) an imprecise way of setting string intonation. Just my take. No aspersions cast.
I think these bridges look interesting, but I don’t desire that degree of precision. I think imperfection sounds cool. Perfection does too, but that’s not me
I mean I love the sound of this bass, with all the extra sounds that come in.
Sorry, I think I missed something: Which bass are you refer to?
G&G bass we’re talking about the parts from
OK, just making sure as the G&G bass sports a Ross bridge.
Yeah I thought the Ross bridge was an odd choice, as he didn’t polish the frets to have consistent fretting. Why have a precise bridge with imprecise frets? but it works so he must be doing something right
The dudes just playing. Filing away what works and what doesn’t for future reference.
I’ve read some not great reviews of the Ross bridge, though. Maybe it’s been refined since its first release?
I had one. Key word had.
- It’s a PITA to set up.
- One thing about the design, it takes the end of the wind ans puts it in tonal play. No idea if this guys it.
- Sustain and ringing for days. If that’s what your after. Look no further.
- I sold it
was literally just posting it for the sound
Yeah, well, something made from some things made that sound.
With this gear-happy crowd, it’s inevitable that questions will be asked and answers will be questioned.
It really did sound awesome.
I think you were trolling me, “look here Wombat, a pretty bass for you. it’s preciousss”
Stringjoy swapped from individual paper envelopes to coiling all the strings in a mass in a single, sealed plastic envelope (as before), with a little card insert to show the color codes for the strings. There, however, only 3 colors; it’s easy enough to figure out. It’s also the same as Dunlop strings. Not that I need these paper envelopes. Just what I noticed with the last set of strings I bought.
And I think my Ernie Ball test set of Slinkies was a bit brighter. I know my C-5 GT lost a lot of its original character when I strung it with Stringjoys. It still sounds good but it isn’t the same bass anymore judging by recordings.
So far EB’s cobalt/iron alloy is my favorite string ever, but EB won’t tell me whether or not their cobalt supply chain involves little children mining it in dangerous conditions But good god damn does it sound good on the Stiletto w/ Fluences and Tone Capsule.
It’s really weird (and fun!) hearing strings on different instruments and experimenting with how different combinations of pickups, preamp, and string interact, but fuck is it expensive for a bass player vs guitar
I’m committed to Stringjoy on guitar, 100% - The jury is still out on my basses for the moment.
How do you think they would fair for slap?
