Plugins I Have Known And Loved

Very true. The early analog synths were staggeringly simple. Lots of great sounds in the Prophet-5 and MiniMoog.

I’ve been watching Anthony Marinelli’s YouTube channel and he re-creates great patches on the ARP-2600 just to show how they were generally done.

Another excellent example and mainstay of early Depeche Mode, Yaz, etc. Simple, effective synth.

Drumazon 2 is out and on sale, if anyone needs a 909.

Oh sweet, it’s also 66% off loyalty discount if you own Drumazon 1.

It’s the best TR-909 VSTi I know of. I don’t count Roland’s as it requires a sub.

If you don’t know what a TR-909 is, it’s Roland’s second most popular drum machine (after the 808) and is arguably more broadly useful. It was used in a lot of '80s and '90s music, including Madonna, Orbital, Daft Punk and others.

d16 also makes a fantastic 808 plugin, Nepheton.

Here’s a similar demo of an 808. The most famous and recorded kick drum in dance music (especially rap) history.

There is a deal available this weekend: any 3 brainworx plugins for USD 49 (hope the link works!?):

This is interesting and unfortunate:

Bummer. I really like NI products, sad to see this trend. Massive is the daily driver of a lot of folks and the situation sounds grim. They already killed Absynth completely.

Komplete Now has so much stuff in it, almost too much  there’s a lot of good things in it but I’ve spent way more time FAFO and I never get to making any music.

I’m waaaaaaaaay too bought in to Kilohearts to consider Komplete. Which in retrospect was an excellent decision, all of the Kilohearts stuff is top tier, constantly updated, and simple to use, with Phase Plant also being the most capable synth you can buy right now.

LOL this is so totally the worst time of year for plugins. There’s a couple I want and will buy this year but no way should anyone consider buying before Black Friday, unless there is a serious sale before then.

I had no idea… I thought they were one of the top players…

I only own one of their plug-ins, but find the interface very clunky and not super intuitive.

That’s the thing, they were.

I own a bunch of their stuff but never use it (it came with other gear). Komplete Start, Hybrid Keys, Komplete Kontrol, and (somehow) Traktor.

So like 24h after I post this, Vocalsynth 2 goes on sale for 75% off

Welp there’s one down.

UA’s LA-2A plugin is free at PluginBoutique right now. Not as one of their free gifts, just straight up free.

Yep, just saw that as well! Nice!!

It does require iLok, be forewarned

Bonus is that no hardware is required. You do need to install UA connect but I think that is fine.

So, apart from getting the free La-2A, there is also another offer available from UAD right now, which includes a couple of other nice sound shaping plug-ins, as well as a vintage synth - the Essentials edition:

Right now, they make it available for 49€ (ca 50$), while “normally” it’d cost 327€ (or, close to 1500$ when bought separately) - that’s the kind of “crazy math” that I don’t like about the whole plug-in business :grimacing:

For 50 bucks, though, it looks like a nice deal.

I don’t see the discount :man_shrugging:t2:
