I was looking forward to it but Iā€™ve been instructed I am not able to be anywhere near big decibels at the moment :slightly_frowning_face:
Gutted is an understatement

NYC is starting to advertise shows again at a lot of the usual suspect spots (at least the ones that are still around) starting in June/July. Larger venues like Madison Square Garden require the ā€œExcelsior Passā€, which is basically a ā€œIā€™m vaccinatedā€ tool. Not sure about what the smaller venues are doing. For me, taking a pass still. I have young kids who are not vaccinated, so I will be home practicing instead.

Iā€™m so excited about live music happening again! Here in CT things are starting to open up, lots of socially distanced outdoor shows. I got to see Turkuaz a few weeks ago. They are an amazing funk band and man seeing live music again was good for the soul!

There is a tennis court arena in New Haven that has a ton of my favorite jam bands coming in. Iā€™ll be going one night each for 4 weeks in a row (starting next weekend) to see JRAD, the Disco Biscuits, Goose, then JRAD again! The venue looks amazing, should be a ton of fun.

Then in August I get to see my favorite band Phish play three nights on the Atlantic City Beach! These shows were rescheduled from last summer, so itā€™s been a long wait to be able to sink my feet in the sand, jump into the surf and listen to three nights of fantastic music while doing it! Got a hotel room right across the street from the shows. Going to be a crazy weekend.

Not only going to see live shows again, but just the planning and anticipation have done wonders for my mental health and overall mood! Going to work everyday during lockdown with nothing to look forward to sucked! Going to work everyday so I can afford more concert tickets sucks less.

Weā€™re fans of and actually friends with a bunch of guys and gals from Finland in various metal bands. Itā€™d be nice to see the travel restrictions lifted for acts who want to come to the States (and vice-versa). Also, itā€™ll be nice to perform shows again. I am not sure if Iā€™ve said this but since COVID, I play bass guitar, now.

The outdoor Guns n Roses gig I have tickets for has been postponed (again) until next year.

I have tickets for a Virtual Reality gig by Finnish band Nightwish next Friday and then tickets for their live gig here in Dublin at the end of the year.

Iā€™m hoping that within a month live music will be a thing again, albeit with restricted crowds.

Think itā€™s a little too early to talk about ā€˜post covidā€™. itā€™s important to remember that just because lockdown restrictions are being eased in many places it doesnā€™t mean covid has been eradicated. Many people seem to think it has and that could easily see spikes and mores lockdowns.

For sure. We wonā€™t even get vaccines here until July-Sept.

Everything you said is trueā€¦ but it is still correct to say the concerts I saw in 2019 were pre-covid and the concert I saw last week was post-covid. Nothing about that or anything else said in this thread implies that any of us think we are out of the woods and everything is perfect now. Let us be excited about live music.

We have them here of course but instead of herd immunity we seem to be going for herd stupidity.

No of course, and I understood the context ganglycloth used the term in but it was just a thought that we should be guarded from using such terminology in the wider community. Many seem to equate the fact that the pubs have re-opened as proof that we have the all-clear

The rescheduled from 2020 New Order & Pet Shop Boys tour!

Same here. Some people seem to think they are immune to Covid after they get their first shot. How idiotic is that thinking.

There have been 2 anti-mask rallies in my area in the last two weeks with hundreds of people attending each. They were spouting off about their civil rights. What about my civil rights? They donā€™t have the right to help spread this virus and give it to me.

These events were even advertised a week in advance in the media.
The police were in attendance at both rallies but did nothing. If they had arrested the people responsible for the assembly there would have been no reason for the crowds to stick around. And of course, the week following each of the rallies there were 30-40 people testing positive for Covid. I wonder how they feel about wearing masks and social distancing now?

I honestly donā€™t think Covid is going to end any time soon until people start listening and acting rationally and responsibly!
