Sounds like a collection in itself ![]()

@HighlandBass Well you’re all set if Geddy Lee shows up to your house!
He’d be more than welcome to take his pick!
Houses. One in Maryland, one by the Grafenwöhr training area in Bavaria, and 2 that are in the old Roman settlement by the Rhein River Germany. Keeps me busy in retirement. Keeps me poor. Taking the SLK with top down out to Graf today.
Sneakers…not a lot about forty or fifty pair. I’ve been posting up pics on instagram of my pedals when I record and my shoes get more comments than the pedals. All these great pedals from the 70’s and 80s and the comments are “nice kicks”.
I didn’t know the E stood for Energizer… ![]()
I went on a college trip to a design exhibition in Stuttgart in 1986. I brought this (stolen) glass back with me, and it has survived this long! I have moved house 16 times (including Bulgaria and back) since then, and it defies all logic by making it this far. It deserves to live. And also deserves a clean. I’ve never used it, it has just been the pride of a small collection.
I did have various real ale glasses, Belgian beer glasses etc, but many are at the ex’s house.
Is that still an active training area? In 1971, I was doing some courier duty between the U.S. and German Army HQs during the annual Reforager exercise, and had to make a stop in Grafenwöhr once. My memory is that the U.S. artillery guys brought forward from the U.S. were not what I’d call “accurate”. It could have been on purpose, but the only things completely safe were their targets. ![]()
Love it! If I saw a glass with that branding I would have acquired too!
Looks so awesome!
When I saw the first pictures, it looked like a lot, but wait for it… there’s more, and more, and MORE! But everything beautifully organised!!
This neither musical nor drinkable. It is my collection of Challenge Coins for the various Navy commands we’ve done work for. Most of them were given to the team by the commanding officer in appreciation, a couple were purchased.
I’m really trying to pare down my collecting. I was collecting Disney Vinylmation figures, but that stopped when Disney ended the line, and I got rid of all but a few. I was also collecting Pop Vinyl figures, but I stopped doing that for space concerns and sold them off.
I started collecting Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge Droid Depot droids and got up to six of them, but that’s a really expensive hobby given the costs surrounding just getting into the park, not to mention the droids themselves. I’ve disassembled all but 2 or 3 and I think I’m good with that.
I think I really only have three things that I collect right now:
- Cloisonné/hard enamel pins (like from Disneyland or Knotts or events or places, stuff like that),
- LEGO Star Wars Microfighter sets (I have all but, like, 5 of them)
- D&D core rulebooks (I have the core rulebooks from all editions except for the newest edition… whatever they’re calling it).
Yeah, I’m a nerd.
You like them a bit of the sweet side eh?
I don’t drink beer or spirits I drink wine. Although I dont drink as much now or any because of work and kids. I also don’t drink wine by itself, always with food.
One of the fun thing I still do every time we try some new dish is to think about what wine to go with the dish.
I tried collecting it as well with similar results.
Although bass playing/practicing takes up alot of my spare time i also like to indulge my other hobby which took up alot of my time and money long before I picked up a Bass guitar, that’s vinyl record collecting.
Before the internet i spent my spare time in charity shops, car boot sales and record fares looking for that certain record to complete a collection.
So confess all, what’s your other weakness?
If I had $100 for every hobby I have spent money on there would be serious stocks in my portfolio (ie: wallet) to invest.
Here is tha list as far as I can remember.
-fishing gear
8-track tapes
-cassettes (they have to be resfored/baked and put on thumb drives). My car has a cassette deck and I don’t want it eating the first tape I play. Especially the originals my band recorded on 24 track back in 1988.
-compact disc
-boat and extras
-fly fishing/ tying
-motorcycles
-hunting and shooting
-progressive reloading for above
-golf/new clubs
-3D printer and extras
-tools and material for leatherwork.
-classic cars
-building sporting rifles
-buying many les paul copies since the real Les Paul could get scratched (played almost an hour since 2016) which I am having my lead guitar player help with a video to help me sell it on reberb.
-luthier tools to get into serious (to me) setups on string instruments
-A new bass is in my future
That is all I have time to list at the moment
That’s some list!
cats, my wife and I “collect “ cats
There is one missing in this picture , time to expand the cat tree ![]()
Notice the hole in the ceiling, that way they can go to the next floor without having to use the stairs
I’ve dabbled with RPG games on playstation, the last one i had a go at was “elden ring”
Man that’s a tough one!
