Post your covers! (2019-2022)

Nice job as always @Al1885
Loved the tone on this one

Tone was great but pretty sure something sounds like it is overdriving/clipping for me there. Certainly didn’t sound bad but not sure if intentional.

If it sounded good it was definitely intentional but I think it’s clipping, lol.

That’s exactly the right way to look at it

Thanks @John_E. I’m about to do some data dump here, lol.

This is my impression of how @John_E and @JerryP Play the regular scale bass.

Don’t know why live NYC
Kala uBass exotic Mahogany

I missed fretting and because the scale was so small I tried to correct then over shot it, lol. Anyways, I love the tone, it’s between an upright and acoustic bass.

This is what I meant, I’m stretching my fingers all the way while it seems the @JerryP and most likely @John_E would barely have to move much, lol.

This is a fun one, small hiccup with volume and splicing but I think the tonal difference come through.

What a fun cover @JerryP, nice choice, transcription, and performance! That Squier looks and sounds fabulous too. I really like how the black inlays contrast with the maple neck.

That was cool @Old_WannaBe, I like that plucking technique you use at the neck, really thumps!

Thanks!

I like it that way, that bass gets heavy AF after an hour or so, but that’s rock and roll :metal:

This probably the last cover of the year for me. This is especially for @Growl and @John_E I’m very surprised how well this bass records. Again I’m using the position 2 on the Music Man Sabre bass.

Great covers tonight @Al1885! Make you Feel My Love is such a beautiful song, really like this version, and you played it just right, with such nice feel. The U-Bass always surprises me how big it sounds. I’m always expecting a wimpy Somewhere over the Rainbow uke sound or when I see one, but this is legit

Thanks @dlamson13 Ubass is definitely fun to play, I have the acoustic and the solid body, the solid body is much shorter but it’s pretty cool.

hmmm… can you explain more? not relaxed enough? hardest part for me was choking off the open A before the low F. I think i choked it too short to make sure i could male the F in time

When you play live shorter note value is better than longer, it gives a good vibe to a live performance.

What I said about dynamic is the uneven loudness, your cover is a syncopated piece that needs some uneven unexpected pickup notes, it would give the song the lively energy.

This is the song I’m working on right now is a good example of dynamic syncopation check it out. If every note has the same loudness it would not have the funky feel.

Love it @JerryP ! Great transcription as it sounded spot on.
