OK gang, wind machines and green screens aside, here’s my latest that I worked on before leaving on my current work trip. I hope you all enjoy it.

Very nicely done, @JerryP . . .
Great cover @JerryP
Cool and casual as usual
Hehe… it’s the next logical step! And I have seen your ads looking for a gaffer and a stagehand
Bravo @JerryP! Well done, very nice tone and great pick work!
I’m the same way @terb… although I’m in the final stages of my next recording, I’m already casually working on the next song.
I find that the more songs I learn, the easier it gets to learn the next one. Sometimes I learn a song by the exact notes in the original, but mostly I create my own basslines using the chord chart that I find on Chordify. It’s much easier to memorize chord progressions and changes than it is to remember every note in a 4-5 minute song.
Thank you @Jazzbass19, @Mac and @PamPurrs!
Move over, Macca
Nailed it, @JerryP!!
Nice job with the perfect bass for the song
Arigato @howard. Entry into Japan seems to be getting tougher every day.
Yeah don’t be surprised if they close the borders soon. It’s also possible you could get trapped here too
great cover @JerryP , as always ! I love your style, peaceful and relaxed.
also you get a really nice tone from your Hofner. usually I’m not a big fan of the kind of tone those basses provide, but this time I really like the tone you get from it. I guess it’s not so easy to make it sound deep yet clear enough ( = not muddy), because of the short scale and the neck pickup position ?
I’ve been stuck in worse places.
It’s a trap. Eventually, I ended up staying more than a decade
Nice job Jerry, @JerryP,
When I saw a Beatles song the first thing I thought was he best be playing the Beatle bass, otherwise there would be points deducted😂
Well you stayed true to tradition and I liked the tone, the pick use and you looked really comfortable playing something you love😎
Great job,
Cheers Brian
Thanks Laurent!
All I have to affect the tone of all my basses is either the Rumble LT25 presets or the plugins from Garage Band. I don’t have any pedals and such to shape the tone. I do a little tweaking with what I have available and try to get it to sound like the original recording. I do have the LaBella Flat wounds that really made a difference when I first put them on.
I don’t know enough about the mechanics of short scale and neck pickup position to answer that.
Thanks Brian. All my future Beatles covers will be with the Hofner. It really is fun to play. It’s very light weight.
a short scale tends to sound more muddy, less precise than with longer strings. also if the neck pickup is really close to the neck (which is the case for those Hofner), this pickup will bring a very fat/deep/muddy tone. of course you have the other pickup to blend but it’s not always easy to get a deep yep clear tone with those physical parameters. that’s why I’ve been positively surprised.
anyway, it sounds good and that’s what matters ! and that’s perfectly fine if the LT25 and Garage Band are enough to make it sound good, no need for more !
Yes, I found that out first hand with that Gibson SG, @terb . . .
Cheers
Joe
That Hofner has just the right tone for that, @JerryP . . .
All best, Joe
