Thanks @MikeC ! This tune sort of grew on me after a few practice sessions.
For sure. Itās a cool tune.
I remembered it being an old Western movie soundtrack.
Sorry Iām late on commenting on the latest covers, traveling doesnāt leave much time.
All great covers @mpops1990 , @Barney , and @Paul_9207 !
Excellent finger work on both songs @mpops1990 , tone was perfect.
@Barney , Spot on, man! I gotta do more '80s stuff. Simple bass lines are just that, simple and effective.
@Paul_9207 , another great cover. I was waiting for Pennywise to come to life at the end of the video.
Great job all!
Hey they never expire, right? Thanks a lot, glad you liked it!
Hey, everyone! This is my cover for the song Psycho Killer by Talking Heads.

I only noticed later that the tone was a little off compared to the original, but I still think itās a ādecentā cover.
Thank you for watching!
it is. I could say that sometimes it doesnāt sound totally in tune (maybe one string not perfectly tuned, the D I think) and your attack is not perfectly consistent especially at the begining of the song. some very minor issues. still a very nice cover overall
and your attack is not perfectly consistent especially at the begining of the song
Yes! I noticed that too, unfortunately. This song is somehow hard to keep track of the beat, especially in the beginning. I just changed the wording from āgood coverā to ādecent coverā
donāt be too rude with yourself
thatās a good cover. attack consistency is not something easy !
thatās a good cover. Tone is always hard to match, I donāt think Iāve ever accurately matched tone on a cover, but if it sounds good itās a win. Yours sounds good. Fun song too. Good job.
itās not even a goal, really
I try to get in the ballpark with effects, but yeah, I just want it to sound good.
You surely donāt need to, but need to be in the āballparkā of the style.
A lot of that comes from playing technique though.
Hey @robbp - well done man!
You did a really good job!
I like your tone a lot.
I think @terb is right, maybe yoru D string is a bit out of tune or intonation is off a touch
Attack issues resolve with time, or, a compressor
After your comments I remembered that I didnāt setup this bass since I bought it! I donāt have the proper tuner for it, but I decided to give it a try using Amplitube built-in tuner and a clip-on tuner together with it as āsecond proofā that the tuning was right.
You were right! The intonation for all the strings were slightly tuned up so I detuned it and hopefully in my next cover everything will be on tune!
Thanks for the heads-up!
Is strongly suggest two things.
- A proper tuner.
- A proper setup (or learn to do it yourself).
You can tune your strings properly so that the open string is in tune but unless you set up your bass properly including adjusting intonation (string length) your fretted notes may be out of tune. Setting intonation sets the correct length of the strings so they are in tune across all the frets.
For all newcomers, this is a fundamental cost of entry sort of thing.
The rest of the bass feels properly set up. Action is very comfortable, no buzzing anywhere. I think it was only the intonation missing.
A proper tuner.
Iāve heard good things about Peterson tuners but I donāt have the $ to spent $200 CAD on a tuner right now.
Then I found this: https://www.petersontuners.com/products/istrobosoft/. Iāve heard good reviews about its accuracy.
I was able to hook my audio interface with my phone and the app and finally adjust the intonation!
You donāt need a $200 tuner. for example I use a Korg Pitchblack and an very very old Korg CA-30 , both work perfectly. Also there are tuners integrated in most digital devices.
Very well done @robbp ! I thought the tone was great.
Good job!
I used iStrobosoft for a long time, itās an excellent tuner.
