everybody have recording fright at first, I guess. then, with time, it becomes natural. just keep it going
At least youāve done it (and well). I hope to have my FIRST coming to a BassBuzz Forum near you soon.
INDEED!
This was a very very big scary hairy deal for me in the beginning.
Sometimes I still canāt believe I actually recorded a song (the first time).
Now, I actually enjoy it.
The good news here is @booker_t - is that you will only get constructive feedback aimed at helping you improve here. I have never seen anyone give any other type here.
Yeh I could turn the mute bridge up on my Rick but the first rule of Rick bridges is that you donāt touch Rick bridges lol
Nice effect on the tone though. Sounds good
With Autumn drawing in, I thought I would get in touch with my softer side and try a cover of Wichita Lineman. It was a tough choice which bass to use but in the end I went for the Rick. However, despite their virtues, Ricks really lack bottom end: what the growl giveth, the lack of bass taketh away.
I also mildly cheated by following Serafocās transcription on Youtube while playing, which meant I didnāt have to learn the song by heart; however, reading off the screen while playing turned out to be a skill in itself.
Soo⦠some fluffs (couple of bum notes, a little ahead of the beat a couple of times) but I think itās 90% there and I need to move on and practise my strumming.
I think that sounded great @Ed
Not me! Huge proponent of easy lines here.
Iām definitely working on all kinds of more complex stuff (right now itās Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me by Lawrence)- but simple, easy lines recharge me. Especially new punk stuff. If I sit down to work on something and itās just not happening - thatās when I break about about half of Green Dayās stuff, all of Bowling for Soup, the Ramones, half of Tom Pettyās catalog - great songs, no thought (or finger dexterity) required. Bliss.
Thanks
Great job @Ed ! I havenāt heard that song in years. very well done!
This took longer than I thought it would. Lotās of technical problems. Editing was more challenging than normal. All in all, kind of a pain in the butt. However, I learned a lot and I had fun. That being said, I left in some mistakes just because I didnāt want to splice in another take.
This is my first try at a drum and bass cover together. I think it turned out okay despite all the things mentioned above. I recorded two songs at the same time, so there will be another by tomorrow, probably.
Also, I havenāt played the drums much lately, especially since taking up bass, so be nice.

Someoneās been puttinā in the work
So, Iāve come to realize that if my four year old doesnāt want me to play my bass for whatever reason then itās probably a good idea for me to not record at that time. He puts a lot of pressure on me to record my covers quickly so he can use the game room. Lots of flubs on the bass, but I wanted to get these videos recorded and edited. I learned a lot and had fun. I wish they turned out better, but that will all come with time. I have plenty of songs I want to cover.

Thanks @JerryP ! The song had been running round my head for a while and I thought Iād give it a go. Iād love to get my hands on a Danelectro for the solo ā¦
Another great cover there @Paul_9207 Youāve got a great setup there with all the lighting. Do you have your own venue?
Two great covers @Paul_9207 ! Nice work on the drums and it looks like you have a great practice space for playing and recording. Enjoyed them both.
Thanks @Ed ! Thatās just my basement, itās mostly unfinished. The room my drums are in has painterās drop cloth on the walls to cover the studs and insulation. The room I record my bass in is the only finished room in the basement. It was supposed to be the movie/game room, but has become my music room over the last couple years.
I also have two ring lights that I got from Amazon that produce some cool effects.
Thanks Jerry!
Nice job @Ed I like the tone and the slides
You need a Bass VI now to add the solo, lolol
Ambitious and very well done @Paul_9207
You make me tired just watching you.
Great vid production too
