I didn’t realize you did that in the garage
Oh can you be more specific, so I can improve it next time? I dont have perfect pitch.
You can listen carefully a little bit after 2 minutes, the bass is very clearly out of tune compared to the original track. And/or maybe a very bad intonation setup on the bass itself ?
Bad intonation is big possibility I dont think I have checked my Fenders for quite a while.
Will check it when I get home.
Till then, heres me live some minutes ago.
That’s “fan-friggin’-tastic” @Growl!! Totally in the pocket, and the tone was terrific….!!…
Nice! Well done, very well played, and this time live. Very good expression.
yeah that’s really great !
Back home after two weeks in the Middle East so it’s time to give the Hofner some love.
Thank for watching. Constructive criticism welcomed.
Technical:
Hofner Ignition Series with LaBella DTF, Dunlop .88 pick
Zoom B1 Four with Ampeg SVT amp sim
Scarlett 2i2
Reaper DAW with CLA-76 compressor
DaVinci Resolve Video Editor
Cant hear heck on mobile, will check it out home on proper setup.
Welcome back home @JerryP!! Love that Hofner tone, and using a pick gave it a more distinct trebly tone that worked well in the mix…. Are you playing with the bass selector switch on?
Great work @JerryP
Sounds fab-four-ulous (see what I did there?)
And welcome home!
Thanks Lanny! Yes, the bass selector is on, treble off and solo on.
a great cover as always, very “laid back”. I like your style
Thanks John! Yes, I see.
Thank you Laurent.
Same settings I always use on my Hof….
Hahaha…. Speaking of “Twilight Zone”, did a cover a couple months ago for one of my twin sons in Alaska who “Accidentally” got shot in the hand with a 9mm…. He also plays guitar which has hindered him from playing (he was quite good) and is now trying to figure a way to relearn a method so that he can continue to play….
Not a great cover, but I put this one together real quick for him….
what ?
otherwise, a nice cover not my favorites but those more modern basses always do the job, tone-wise.
Yea,… Not one of mine either, but it was the only way I knew how to reply to his injury…. Not sure I’ll ever hear the “full story” as to what actually happened…. All he said was that it was an “accident”…. Having raised all my kids (twin boys and twin girls) in the Alaskan Bush, and being exposed to guns their entire life (along with other things), it doesn’t surprise me that he’d keep the real reason concealed (even though I kinda have a good idea)…. But yea, my Ibby was the bass to use for that one….
Iggy Pop - I’m Bored
I learnt this a while ago, but never made a recording. A couple of minor errors, but I’m generally satisfied. Other than seeing the improvement over the past year, I’m still appearing very uncomfortable playing on camera. However, I’m having fun, so it’s all good!
I made a second video today, but still need to put it together. Hopefully will get it up after work tomorrow.
