Thanks. It’s a fun song.
Thank you Al! Intonation is always something I’m always working on/struggling with but gets better with practice for sure.
Haha, yeah I stubbornly imitated my rockstar idols with the low guitar thing until one day it started to feel normal.
Congrats on finishing all 50 Songs @dlamson13 ! Bon Jovi sounds good, the fretless even sounds in tune which gets you extra bonus points.
Thanks so much Josh! My bass journey begins with you and B2BA so it means a lot!
Haha Thanks, I’ve heard you express some opinions about the horrible sounds a fretless is capable of in at least one video, so I’ll hang on to those bonus points for something I butcher in the future
Hey happy 50th and congratulations - this is truly an achievement!
…and another fine cover too by the way
I gots to get my head down and put some real hours in instead of noodling.
Great job @JerryP I love that mellow Hofner tone
Thanks Ed!
Thanks @Ed!! Just curious, got anything cooking for next Mönth… .
Oo @dlamson13 is it that time again? How time flies eh?
You know what - it might be time to strap on the Rick and polish my cowboy boots for another Mövember
I should really think about getting going on the 50 song challenge though - push myself out of my comfort zone a bit
Does anyone here remember The Damned? Some of you might need to ask your parents .
This track, Pleasure and the Pain is from their 1982 album Strawberries- although admittedly it’s quite different to their classic earlier material, it is still totally worth a listen. The bass player, Paul Gray graduated from Eddie and the Hot Rods (another solid group) and later went on to play with UFO and Captain Sensible (also from the Damned).
The basic song isn’t too hard to work out but Paul puts so many interesting fills and transitions that it never gets boring. I personally love this style of playing but it’s really quite tough to add these extras without dropping a beat or losing track of the song; also knowing when and how much can be hard to judge. Still, I’ve moved my John Entwhistle poster a little to the side to make way for Paul Gray up there on my bedroom wall alongside Lemmy.
The setup is pretty simple - Rickenbacker, bass pickup (feels weird after all the Motörhead covers…), AC340 emulator on the Zoom with high mids and lower highs and bass.
Do not let my stoney mask of intense concentration fool you - behind the face of an Easter Island statue, I am actually having a blast playing this
Oh and here’s the original cover by Paul Gray I reverse engineered it from -
Hello:-) Should I post my covers from 50 song challenge here aswell or is it enough to put them in each song topic?
Then we keep this for everything else? Like if somebody wants to do Cmon Girl or Stevie Wonder-Sir Duke[Live At Last 1080p] - YouTube.
Yeah I’ve been a bit absent recently but that’s what I thought the arrangement was @Johnnyb - 50 song challenge in the 50 song box and all other covers here
hell yes!
That was great, nice work as usual
Thanking you
I post in both as I think @terb is still tallying covers for members for a yearly count. He only monitors this thread iirc. Perhaps they can confirm if this is still the case.
totally true, @cheeze_pizza !
OK, so in the future @terb wants me to post in both then?
This is what I’ve done so far in 2023, now I need a break from learning new songs. Must say I am very impressed with the musicians of all these talent shows, who get a list of ten new songs on a monday, and on friday or saturday they play live on TV. Don’t think my head could manage that:-)

Great job @Ed! I wasn’t familiar with that song. I like the energy and the fills, it looks fun to play for sure.
