Oh that is so cool. I was in a band with a couple of mates back in the 90s but it was nowhere near that big. I think our biggest audience was maybe 10 people (friends and relatives). Rehearsals were a blast tho .

Did everyone else secretly hate him? I know a multi-instrumentalist with perfect pitch and I am doing my best not to. I would love to be that kind of multi-instrumentalist, the difference is - I’m not good like your friend, just competent at one and bad at several

He’s a goofy kinda easy going guy. I remember he eventually stayed with the guy who owns the house and he has this professional recording studio at home. They produced quite a few albums for Thai musicians who lived here to be distributed in Thailand. The guy was a professional drummer and lefty. He told me that the first day my friend saw the studio he jumped on the kit and after a few second started ripping it like a pro. He was like e’ffing bastard plays even better than me lol.

That was the place where I met Eddie Van Halen.

Excellent playing man! Also good job on keeping it (mostly) together with the shenanigans in the bg. I probably would do the same as your brother though… Anyhow, loved it!

Wow! Double bass action and those slides were oh so nice Al!

Oh man this is a great song indeed. You’ve done it so well! I loved the hammer-ons and the effortless sliding!

Great explanation on your methods as well.

@JustinAndSheba - Great playing on the KISS cover dude!

…and I’m caught up! (for now)

50 Songs Challenge Song no 21: Jackie Wilson - Higher and Higher

Finally getting around to cross-posting this song over here.

Thought I’d be playing this on my fretless but my best takes came from the JINO instead.

That was great! Nice job keeping your concentration there @beaurapp, I’d say your road ready after that  I like how you chose to play up near the neck, gives a nice mellow sound for a tune like this.

I love hearing you do your thing, seriously inspiring, just makes me want to play play play  Everything about that EB Fretless is wonderful too. Oh and the sliding harmonic in Lemonade, NICE Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I watched a lot of videos on reggae bass and playing near the neck was something that was mentioned a lot! I like that mellow bass sound.

My brother told me he was testing my concentration, but I’m glad you think I was able to hold it together!

Thanks @dlamson13 I had a really good time playing the song. Usually I play this song on a gig and the energy is a bit different but let’s face it the quality of musicianship is also higher with original although my bandmates are well versed in this song.

Some songs are just super awesome playing live one notable mention would be Jackson Brown, Stay or Clapton, Layla

Hey now it was a quad basses action on Lemonade, lol.

October is almost over and I haven’t done any spooky themed songs. So I got the urge to do this one today. Not my best playing, but it was fun to mess around with the green screen effect. The background is a picture of me mountain biking.

My favorite Cure song. Well done!

Seventeen Seconds is one of the best albums of all time.

For the real Gallup sound you need a pick, though

This is a lengthy song to get the groove up on but you smashed it man! I don’t know a ton of Cure songs but it sounded just like the vibe I know of the ones I’ve heard. Well done.

Thanks Howard! I agree, the Faith/ Seventeen Seconds era is amazing.
I have always played this song with a pick, but then I rewatched the music video and notice the bass being plucked with fingers. I also realize music videos are not an accurate source for gear used in recording. All live versions I’ve seen have been picked.

Thank you!
