Post your covers! (2023)

Well gang, kiss all the Beatles covers goodbye, Ramones too.

Vimeo just send emails that they are all being moved to “private” per the artist copyright BS.

So for now no where to post them.

I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t want their music spread with the love they get and just de-monetize the ones that can make money (or simply take the money).

It’s not them, it’s the labels.

Unless “they” are Metallica. Then it’s them.

Well, that certainly sucks.

Last cover from a studio session with my brother! The camera angle sucks! Sorry!

We played Led Zeppelin’s “The Ocean” to a solo drum track. It was a lot of fun to play! I’m pretty low in the mix because I’m doubling the guitar part, so it’s better to listen with headphones.

Six Feet Under with an acoustic bass, that’s brave ! :star_struck:

I also wasn’t sure about the acoustic, but I love your tone! Great playing!

This week marks 3 years since I first picked up a Bass and committed to learning the instrument. I can honestly say it’s gone by in a flash. I think I’ve logged over 1500hrs and it now feels natural to have it in my hands. As ever, I’m eternally grateful to @JoshFossgreen for giving me the very best start I could have hoped for with his B2B program.

I’m so very happy to have this community here in BassBuzz to keep me working away at my hobby. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

“I’ve never sucked at something so bad, but loved it so much”

I’m finally feeling like I’m getting to the point where I think 'You know what, I don’t totally suck anymore" But a long fun road still lies ahead.

Many thanks to this thread in particular for allowing me to post my videos. I think learning whole songs end to end (along with playing with a drum machine when practicing) is the best thing for my playing.

I chose this for everyone’s friend and bass collector @Al1885 who’s a huge Nathan East fan.
I read the official Nathan East notation but decided to simplify some of the song because… well I’m not Nathan East. But I was still trying to capture the fun and vibe of the song.

Once again thanks to all the regulars on this forum, it’s been a real slice!

Philip Bailey & Phil Collins - Easy Lover

I started playing Bass in Nov 2020. Moises.ai app to remove the original Nathan East bass line and overdub mine.

Nice Ampeg punch. The SGT-DI seems quite good at this.

Also congrats for your 3 years @Barney ! impressive progression since the beginning.

Fantastic work, @Barny! Great playing as always, and the progress you’ve had has been really good. I also love the comments you have on the forum; they’re very often “said” with a smile :-). Keep up the good work; you and the rest of you in here are an inspiration.

@Barney congrats on your 3rd year. That’s fantastic playing my favorite tune. Great bass line, great drums and awesome guitar solo.

It’s not an easy song as bass part also weaving in and out in unison with guitar riffs while providing many filling hooks and transition and it’s always in motion. It’s such a fun song to play and you did great.

I envy your video production, the B rolls are just awesome, the storyline is superb all the way to the ending. I wish I have that kind of chops in my tool bag… Great job man.

Congratulations on your three year journey. Many more to come!
This was one of the covers that I forgot it’s a cover and thought I was listening to the original. Very well done!

Wow, can’t believe it’s been 3 years!

Awesome as usual, and I had no idea that song was Nathan East.

Super cool @Barney that is a tune…congrats on 3 years and thanks for the little Nathan East lesson :+1:
going by the albums at the end of your vid, I have heard a lot of his bass lines without knowing it

Great tune and great playing.

Catching up on the best thread around:
@Jerry that your tone sounds so right, great playing too!

@JustinAndSheba Love the variety in the tunes you choose. My favorite was probably the Dan Hartman, lots of 80s nostalgia there. As a cover man who also chooses to “live dangerously”, I respect the acoustic metal cover

@beaurapp Nice! Doubling that riff gives it a lot of power. You get to step out a little to do those fun walks at the end. JPJ was really good at serving the song that way.

@Barney Excellent cover, knew East was a legend, but had no idea he played on all of those records. Here’s to many more years of bass fun!
