Once again it’s Friday and we need to mooove! So here’s my latest cover…!
I’ll be honest, I thought long and hard about posting this one as some people might find it offensive. However, it is an 80s classic and showcases Marc Almond’s fascination with the smut and grime of the late 70s / early 80s backstreets of London.
I didn’t double the bass for this one, I tripled it! One track is in the normal bass range, but for the other two, I went up an octave and played alternating sets of two bars, panning them left and right to get this higher bass line to bounce around (listen with headphones and you’ll hear it). I also applied compression and quite a lot of phaser to each to try to get a synth-like quality to the tone.
It was great fun to play, but hard keeping the groove going for over 5 minutes.
